Palworld 1.0 Perfect Pal Breeding Planner

Enter what each parent carries and which passives you actually want. This works out your exact chance per egg, how many eggs you should expect to hatch, and which cake is worth using — from the datamined inheritance rules, not a guess.

01

What do the parents carry?

Parent A

Parent B

Type a passive name into any slot, or leave it blank. Gender does not matter — Palworld ignores it entirely for passive inheritance. Duplicates across the two parents are merged into one pool entry, exactly as the game does.

Which of these do you want on the hatchling?

Fill in some passives above and they will appear here to tick.
02

Your real odds

Add passives and tick the ones you want to see the numbers.

Odds are computed exactly, not simulated: the game rolls how many passives to pass on — one, two, three or four at 40 / 30 / 20 / 10% — then draws that many at random from the parents' combined unique pool. Everything else follows from that.

03

If you are also hunting a mutation

Pocketpair has never published a mutation rate, so there is no single correct number to plug in. Pick the scenario you want to plan against.

Mutation is a separate roll from passives. A mutated egg is no more likely to carry the traits you wanted, so treat mutation hunting as its own project rather than something to combine with a passive chain.

04

Which cake should you be using?

Veggie Cake · Tech 47

Two eggs per breeding. No change to any rate, but double the rolls for cheaper ingredients. This is the cake for the long middle stretch of a project, while you are still cleaning up the passive pool.

Special Cake · Tech 74

Raises the chance the parents' passives are inherited. Save it for the final pairing — the one where the pool is already clean and the only thing left is the draw.

Exquisite Veggie Cake · Tech 60

The only cake that lifts the mutation rate, to roughly 3% by community testing. Worth it only if a mutation is the goal; it does nothing for your passive odds.

Mushroom Cake · Tech 30

Nudges hatchling stats and potential. Useful when you are grinding IVs, which are otherwise the least controllable part of breeding — roughly 30% father, 30% mother, 40% rerolled.

Cake naming varies between guides: the Tech 60 mutation cake appears as Exquisite, Extravagant and Deluxe Veggie Cake. They are the same item. At Tech 76 the Ancient Breeding Facility produces and hatches eggs automatically — it changes none of the odds, it just runs them for you.

05

The one rule that matters most

Every extra passive in the combined pool dilutes the draw, and it is brutal. With exactly the four you want in the pool, a perfect hatchling is a 10% proposition. Add one junk trait and it falls to 2% — four fifths of your odds, gone to a passive you did not even want.

5 — one junk trait2.0%18.0%35
6 — two junk traits0.7%10.0%104
8 — four junk traits0.1%3.9%485

So the step that feels like a detour — breeding intermediate generations whose only job is to drop unwanted traits — is worth more than any cake. The full working, including the simulation these figures were checked against, is in our Palworld 1.0 passives, IVs and mutations guide. For which two Pals make which species, use the breeding calculator.

Odds are computed exactly from the datamined passive-count distribution (1 / 2 / 3 / 4 inherited at 40 / 30 / 20 / 10%) followed by a uniform draw from the parents' combined unique pool, and were cross-checked against our own 400,000-egg Monte Carlo. Mutation rates are not official — Pocketpair has published none, which is why this page offers scenarios rather than a number. IV inheritance of roughly 30 / 30 / 40 is community-reported.
