2026 Upcoming Games & Events: Dates, Showcases & Releases
Update log (1)
- — 2026-09-02 audit: corrected the Palworld version from v1.0.1 to v1.0.3 (12 Aug); replaced the 'State of Play unconfirmed' claim with the confirmed 3 September broadcast; moved gamescom (26–30 Aug), the Future Games Show, the 4 Aug Fire Emblem Direct and The International 2026 (won by Team Spirit) into the already-happened section; removed the released Splatoon Raiders and Halo: Campaign Evolved from the 'still ahead' table; refreshed the quick answer, takeaways, FAQ and bottom line. Re-verified as unchanged: GTA VI 19 Nov (Rockstar), Marvel's Wolverine 15 Sep (PlayStation Blog), CONTROL Resonant 24 Sep and Gears of War: E-Day 6 Oct (Steam).

- The biggest release left in 2026 is Grand Theft Auto VI on 19 November (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S; the PC version comes in 2027). The biggest showcases still ahead are Tokyo Game Show (17–21 Sep) and The Game Awards (10 Dec); gamescom ran 26–30 August and is done.
- As of 2 September 2026 the confirmed release run still ahead is The Blood of Dawnwalker (3 Sep), Onimusha: Way of the Sword (4 Sep), Marvel’s Wolverine (15 Sep), CONTROL Resonant (24 Sep), Gears of War: E-Day (6 Oct) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (23 Oct).
- PlayStation’s next State of Play is now dated — 3 September, with a State of Play Japan the same day. The next general Nintendo Direct is still undated (the 4 August broadcast was a Fire Emblem-specific Direct), so it stays TBA, and a ‘second Xbox Developer Direct’ is still only a rumour.
- We only list dates confirmed by the event/publisher or two independent sources; everything unannounced is labelled TBA. This is a living calendar — we update it as dates land and events pass.
Quick answer: the biggest game still coming in 2026 is Grand Theft Auto VI on 19 November (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S). The biggest live shows left are Tokyo Game Show (17–21 September) and The Game Awards (10 December) — gamescom is done, having run 26–30 August. Right now, the very next releases are The Blood of Dawnwalker (3 September) and Onimusha: Way of the Sword (4 September), with PlayStation’s State of Play on 3 September. Below is the full calendar for the rest of the year — with every date checked against a live source, and everything unannounced marked TBA instead of guessed.
How to read this page: dates tagged [Confirmed] come from the event or publisher (or two independent sources). [Window] means only a year/quarter is known. [TBA] means it’s expected but not yet dated. [Rumoured] means treat it as a leak, not a plan. Last checked: 2 September 2026.

Biggest game releases left in 2026
The headline releases still ahead, in date order. GTA VI is the tentpole; everything above it is confirmed by the publisher or two independent sources.
| Date (2026) | Game | Platforms & notes |
|---|---|---|

On GTA VI specifically: the solid fact is the 19 November console launch. The PC version is slated for 2027, not day one — and we deliberately don’t repeat the viral “record pre-order” counts and revenue figures floating around, because Take-Two hasn’t disclosed them. Esports finals worth a calendar slot
The three big world finals with public 2026 dates:

| Sep 24–Oct 18 | VALORANT Champions 2026 | Shanghai |
| Oct 15–Nov 14 | League of Legends World Championship | Final: Barclays Center, NYC (14 Nov) |

Expected, but not yet dated (TBA)
These almost certainly happen in the back half of 2026 — but the organisers announce them only days ahead, so we won’t invent a date:
- Next Nintendo Direct — a general Direct in this window is the usual pattern; unconfirmed.
- PlayStation State of Play — 3 September [Confirmed]. Sony announced on 31 August that State of Play and State of Play Japan return on 3 September, back to back.
- Xbox Developer Direct — Microsoft’s January deep-dive would be the first tentpole of 2027 (roughly late January by pattern).
Window-only games (real, but no firm day yet): The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake (Switch 2, 2026), (re-check before publishing — Q3 2026 ends on 30 September, so this window is about to expire and needs either a firm date or a move to Q4/TBA), and Day of the Devs: TGA Edition (usually right before The Game Awards).
Rumoured — don’t bank on these
- A second Xbox Developer Direct in 2026 — a single-insider rumour with no Microsoft confirmation.
- The Duskbloods (FromSoftware, Switch 2) — reported for 2026, but the date isn’t officially confirmed.
Already happened earlier in 2026 (for context)
So you don’t scroll looking for them: Summer Game Fest (5 Jun), Xbox Games Showcase (7 Jun), PlayStation State of Play (2 Jun), a June Nintendo Direct (9 Jun), IGN Fan Fest (Feb), EVO Las Vegas (26–28 Jun) and EVO Japan (May), and gamescom latam (30 Apr–3 May) are all done. Since our last check, so are gamescom 2026 (26–30 Aug, with Opening Night Live on 25 Aug), the Future Games Show at gamescom, the Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Direct (4 Aug) and The International 2026 (13–23 Aug, won by Team Spirit). On the release side, Palworld 1.0 (10 July), Splatoon Raiders (23 Jul) and Halo: Campaign Evolved (28 Jul) have all shipped.
Palworld corner (our home turf)
Drawpie is, first and foremost, a Palworld guides-and-tools site — so here’s the honest Palworld status for this calendar: the latest update is v1.0.3 (12 August 2026, balance adjustments and bug fixes, following v1.0.2 in late July), and Pocketpair still has not announced a dated 1.1 or a content roadmap — the studio has only said publicly that it is “not planning to spend a year” on the 1.1 update. Everything post-1.0 is genuinely TBA, and we track it on the Palworld Latest News hub as patches land.
