Key takeaways
  • 🔑 The Celebrity Traitors series 2 has 21 players, announced by the BBC on 2 May 2026, and it began on BBC One and iPlayer on Thursday 1 October 2026. This guide uses the BBC’s own descriptors, from Jerry Hall’s model and actress to Professor Hannah Fry’s broadcaster and mathematician.
  • Richard E. Grant (69), Bella Ramsey (23), Jerry Hall (70), Sebastian Croft (24), Ross Kemp (62) and Michael Sheen (57) each get a spoiler-free profile: best-known work plus the approach they described in the BBC’s pre-show interviews. Ages are as at the 1 October premiere.
  • Professor Hannah Fry is Professor of the Public Understanding of Mathematics at Cambridge, not UCL. She says she studied earlier series for patterns and is using the maths Alan Turing used on Enigma, but she also says she does not know if it will work. We treat that as her own framing.
  • Episodes air on Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer, and the BBC lists episode 3 for Thursday 8 October 2026. Listings sites count ten episodes and a finale on Friday 30 October 2026, which is expected rather than confirmed by the BBC pages we read.
  • Only one section discusses the game. It is flagged as a spoiler and pinned to the end of episode 2 on Friday 2 October 2026, and it goes out of date when episode 3 airs. There are no predictions, no odds and no reviews anywhere on this page.

The Celebrity Traitors series 2 has 21 players, from Richard E. Grant and Michael Sheen to Bella Ramsey and Professor Hannah Fry, and this guide introduces them without spoiling the game. The BBC announced the line-up on 2 May 2026, and the series, hosted by Claudia Winkleman and filmed earlier in 2026 at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands, began on Thursday 1 October 2026. The profiles are spoiler-free; the one section about the game is flagged near the end and pinned to the end of episode 2 (Friday 2 October 2026).

Ages below are as at the 1 October 2026 premiere. Each profile paraphrases the BBC’s pre-show interviews.

Who is Richard E. Grant?

Richard E. Grant, 69, is an actor and author, best known for Withnail and I (1987) and an Oscar nomination for Can You Ever Forgive Me? (2018). Born in what is now Eswatini, he has also appeared in Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Gosford Park, Loki and Saltburn. He told the BBC he is competitive and a team player, and that his many villainous roles may make others wary of him.

Who is Bella Ramsey?

Bella Ramsey, 23, is an English actor best known as Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones and Ellie in HBO’s The Last of Us. Ramsey also played Mildred Hubble in The Worst Witch. In the BBC interview, Ramsey described years of playing the game at home and with friends, said the plan is to watch and listen and speak up only when confident, and named laughing as the main weakness.

Who is Jerry Hall?

Jerry Hall, 70, is listed by the BBC as a model and actress, and began modelling in the 1970s before moving into acting, including the 1989 film Batman. She told the BBC she is the oldest player, very competitive and inclined to take the lead in games, and that Richard E. Grant was her neighbour for about 30 years.

Who is Sebastian Croft?

Sebastian Croft, 24, is a musician and actor from Oxfordshire, best known as Ben Hope in Netflix’s Heartstopper. He also played the young Eddard Stark in Game of Thrones and released the singles Tokyo (2025) and Better Than Ever (2026) ahead of a debut EP, The Great Forever. He told the BBC he plans to play friendly and fun, and hopes most of the cast do not know him.

Who is Ross Kemp?

Ross Kemp, 62, is listed by the BBC as an actor and presenter, and is best known as Grant Mitchell in EastEnders and for documentaries such as Ross Kemp on Gangs. He told the BBC he hopes viewers will see more than Grant Mitchell or his documentary persona, said he is a qualified HSE diver, and said he intends to play whatever hand he is dealt.

Who is Michael Sheen?

Michael Sheen, 57, is a Welsh actor and presenter who grew up in Port Talbot, known for playing Tony Blair in The Queen and David Frost in Frost/Nixon. He told the BBC he now hosts House of Games, believes he is the only Welsh player and plans to stay hidden at first. He also said being an actor may count against him, because people assume he pretends for a living.

Who is Professor Hannah Fry, and what has she said about her strategy?

Professor Hannah Fry, 42, is listed by the BBC as a broadcaster and mathematician, and has been Professor of the Public Understanding of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge since January 2025. UCL, where she was previously Professor of the Mathematics of Cities, is her former post. She presented BBC Two’s The Secret Genius of Modern Life and gave the 2019 Royal Institution Christmas Lectures.

Her game plan is her own pre-show description, not an established method. She told the BBC she had gone through data from earlier series looking for statistically significant patterns, but on whether any of it will help, she said, “who knows”. She cited what she calls a burn vote, where a Traitor votes for someone nobody else is targeting, though she said the Faithfuls’ scattered voting makes any signal hard to read. She also said she is using the same maths Alan Turing used on the Enigma machine, adding that whether it works is anyone’s guess, and that she might float false theories so rivals underestimate her.

When does The Celebrity Traitors series 2 air, and how many episodes are there?

The Celebrity Traitors series 2 airs on Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, and the BBC lists episode 3 for Thursday 8 October 2026. Listings sites put the run at ten episodes with a finale on Friday 30 October 2026; we treat that date as expected, because the BBC pages we read give the pattern and the next episode but not a full list. The companion show Uncloaked, hosted by Ed Gamble, follows each episode. Times and platforms are in our where to watch guide . The next section contains spoilers for episodes 1 and 2.

Spoiler warning: where does the game stand after episode 2?

As at the end of episode 2 on Friday 2 October 2026, Richard E. Grant, Maya Jama and James Acaster are the three Traitors, Amol Rajan has been murdered and nobody has yet been banished. Winkleman chose Grant and Jama in episode 1, and Grant soon told several players he was a Traitor, a slip he later admitted was a mistake. The Traitors then summoned Acaster and Rajan to argue for a place, and in episode 2 Acaster was recruited while Rajan became the first murder victim. That leaves 20 of the 21 players.

The shipwreck mission banked £15,000 for the prize pot. In the graveyard mission, the Traitors chose Ross Kemp and Romesh Ranganathan to be spared burial, and the pair chose to dig out other players rather than gold. Jerry Hall called the safe word, “Haggis”, and was freed early along with her partner, Hannah Fry, who remains in the game as a Faithful. Julie Hesmondhalgh won the first shield, after players voted her the most trustworthy. Episode 2 ended before the first round-table vote began, so the first banishment is due in episode 3 on Thursday 8 October 2026, and this section will be out of date from 8pm that evening.

What does this guide leave out?

This guide covers who the players are and what has aired, and nothing else: no predictions, no odds and no verdicts on the series. The spoiler section is dated to the end of episode 2 because the game changes with every episode. For everything about finding the show, start with our where to watch guide .
