Sunrise on the Reaping Tickets and Showtimes: Where to Book, Formats and Early Access

- Tickets for every US showtime went on sale at 6 a.m. PT (9 a.m. ET) on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026. Lionsgate names Fandango as the seller, and AMC, Regal and Cinemark also sell through their own sites and apps.
- Early-access screenings in IMAX and other premium formats start on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. local time. Fandango lists regular showtimes from about noon on Thursday, Nov. 19, and the official release date is Friday, Nov. 20.
- It is rated PG-13. The BBFC times it at 158 minutes 5 seconds, about 2 hours 38 minutes, while Fandango’s listing says 2 hours 30 minutes.
- ⚠️ At AMC the IMAX run looks short: the AMC IMAX listings we checked end between Nov. 22 and Nov. 24, and Fandango’s IMAX promo says ‘only in IMAX 11/20-11/24’. Most of the Regal and Cinemark IMAX screens we checked list shows after Nov. 24, some to Dec. 1.
- ⚠️ No standard ticket price is published, because each theater sets its own. Fandango’s FanClub free ticket needs a paid $9.99-a-month membership, and its $44.99 print bundle is non-refundable, with shipping extra.
Tickets for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping are on sale now for every US showtime, after sales opened at 6 a.m. PT (9 a.m. ET) on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026. Lionsgate names Fandango as the place to buy, and AMC, Regal and Cinemark also sell through their own sites and apps. Early-access screenings in IMAX and other premium formats start on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. local time. Regular showtimes are listed from about noon on Thursday, Nov. 19, and the official release date is Friday, Nov. 20.
Are Sunrise on the Reaping tickets on sale yet?
Yes: tickets for every showtime, including the Nov. 18 early-access screenings, went on sale at 6 a.m. PT (9 a.m. ET) on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026.
Lionsgate said tickets for all showtimes would be available on Oct. 28, and the film’s official social account gave the 6 a.m. PT start. We checked Fandango’s listings for New York, Los Angeles, Dallas and Chicago between 2:07 and 2:24 p.m. ET on Oct. 28. Nearly every showtime we sampled from Nov. 18 to Dec. 1 could still be booked. Only a handful were marked sold out, among them three early-access shows on Nov. 18.
These are the three dates to know. The “What” column says what each date is, and “Formats” says which screens it covers.
| Date | What | Formats |
|---|---|---|
| Wed., Nov. 18 | Early access from 6 p.m. local | IMAX and premium |
| Thu., Nov. 19 | Showtimes listed from about noon | All formats |
| Fri., Nov. 20 | Official US release | All formats |
Where can you book Sunrise on the Reaping tickets?
Fandango is the seller named in Lionsgate’s announcement, and AMC, Regal and Cinemark also sell tickets for their own theaters on their websites and apps.
- Fandango’s film page covers AMC, Regal, Cinemark and many other theaters. It is also the only place the Fandango offers below apply.
- AMC and Regal each list the Nov. 18 screenings as a separate “Early Access” title on their own sites, so look for that entry if you want Wednesday night. On Fandango, those shows sit in the main film’s Nov. 18 listings, many of them tagged Early Access Screening.
- If you have a chain subscription or loyalty account, check the chain’s own app first, since those programs are run by the chains.
- Other theaters in the listings we checked include Alamo Drafthouse, Angelika, Landmark, LOOK Dine-In and the TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood.
- Fandango points screen-reader users to its Flixster.com site, which it says sells the same tickets.
When are the Sunrise on the Reaping early access screenings?
They start on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. local time, in IMAX and other premium formats, at participating theaters only.
Lionsgate lists the participating formats as IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, ScreenX, Cinemark XD, Regal RPX and AMC Prime, plus other exhibitor-branded premium large formats. It tells audiences to check local listings to see which theaters take part. In the listings we checked, the first shows began at 6 p.m. local time in all four cities. Some theaters add a second round later in the evening: AMC Empire 25 in New York, for example, lists IMAX shows at 6:30 and 10:15 p.m.
A few theaters also offer early access in 3D. AMC lists Prime 3D shows at several locations, and the TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood list an MX4D 3D show at 7 p.m. Not every early-access show is on a premium screen, either: the Angelika Film Center in Dallas, for example, lists a 6 p.m. early-access show in standard format.
A few theaters’ Fandango listings also carry the Early Access Screening tag on shows dated after Nov. 18. Lionsgate’s announcement gives Nov. 18 as the early-access date, so treat those as regular showtimes.
Can you see Sunrise on the Reaping on Thursday, Nov. 19?
Yes, at many theaters: Fandango lists regular showtimes from about noon on Thursday, Nov. 19, the day before Lionsgate’s official release on Friday, Nov. 20.
At the theaters we sampled in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas and Chicago, the first Thursday shows start at 12 p.m. local time. They run in standard 2D, in 3D and in premium formats including IMAX. This comes from the listings rather than from a Lionsgate announcement, so check your own theater. Some theaters also list Thursday-night shows at midnight or just after, and Fandango dates the tickets for those Friday, Nov. 20.
Which formats is Sunrise on the Reaping playing in?
IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, ScreenX, Cinemark XD, Regal RPX and AMC Prime are all listed, along with standard 2D and several kinds of 3D.
The table shows, for each premium format, the chains we saw listing it in the showtimes we sampled; other theaters may have it too. The “3D listed” column says whether we also saw 3D shows in that format.
| Format | Chains | 3D listed |
|---|---|---|
| IMAX | AMC, Regal, Cinemark, TCL Chinese | Not seen |
| Dolby Cinema | AMC | Not seen |
| AMC Prime | AMC | Yes |
| ScreenX | AMC, Regal, Cinemark | Yes |
| 4DX | Regal, B&B | Yes |
| MX4D | TCL Chinese, B&B | Yes |
| Regal RPX | Regal | Not seen |
| Cinemark XD | Cinemark | Yes |
| D-Box seats | Cinemark, Galaxy | Yes |
B&B is B&B Theatres and Galaxy is Galaxy Theatres, both seen at Dallas-area locations. The listings also carry house formats such as AMC’s XL, LOOK Dine-In’s LOOK PX and Hooky Entertainment’s SDX. Ordinary 3D shows are marked RealD 3D or Digital 3D.
In IMAX, the picture expands from widescreen to fill the taller IMAX screen when the tributes reach the arena, as it did in Catching Fire, cinematographer Jo Willems told Entertainment Weekly. He said the film was shot on IMAX-approved digital cameras rather than IMAX film cameras. Our guide to The Odyssey’s IMAX 70mm run explains how IMAX’s own formats differ.
The listings also include open-caption shows at many AMC and Regal theaters, Spanish-dubbed shows at some AMC theaters around Dallas, and Baby Friendly screenings at some Alamo Drafthouse locations. AMC also lists sensory-friendly screenings with no trailers on Wednesday, Nov. 25, at 7 p.m. at the locations we found, such as AMC Galewood Crossings 14 in Chicago.
How long will Sunrise on the Reaping play in IMAX?
It depends on the theater: the AMC IMAX listings we checked end on Nov. 22, 23 or 24, while most of the Regal and Cinemark IMAX screens we checked list shows after Nov. 24, some of them to Dec. 1.
Fandango’s IMAX promotion describes the film as “only in IMAX 11/20-11/24”, a range that leaves out the IMAX shows on Nov. 18 and 19. Lionsgate’s announcement gives no end date for the IMAX run. From Nov. 25, most of the AMC IMAX screens we checked list The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth instead. None of the Regal or Cinemark IMAX screens we checked lists Cliff Booth, and most keep listing Sunrise on the Reaping in IMAX after Nov. 24, though those later schedules could change.
The table gives the last day each theater lists an IMAX show, from our checks between 2:07 and 2:24 p.m. ET on Oct. 28. Theaters can still add shows, so treat these as the latest dates listed so far. “Or later” means IMAX shows were still listed on Dec. 1, the last date we checked.
| Theater | Area | Last IMAX |
|---|---|---|
| AMC 34th Street 14 | New York | Nov. 22 |
| AMC Kips Bay 15 | New York | Nov. 22 |
| AMC Empire 25 | New York | Nov. 23 |
| AMC Lincoln Square 13 | New York | Nov. 23 |
| AMC Century City 15 | Los Angeles | Nov. 22 |
| AMC The Grove 14 | Los Angeles | Nov. 23 |
| AMC Burbank 16 | Los Angeles | Nov. 23 |
| TCL Chinese Theatres | Los Angeles | Nov. 23 |
| Universal Cinema (AMC) | Los Angeles | Nov. 24 |
| Regal LA Live | Los Angeles | Dec. 1 or later |
| Regal Sherman Oaks Galleria | Los Angeles | Dec. 1 or later |
| Regal Edwards South Gate | Los Angeles | Nov. 24 |
| AMC NorthPark 15 | Dallas | Nov. 23 |
| AMC Mesquite 30 | Dallas | Nov. 23 |
| Cinemark Dallas XD and IMAX | Dallas | Nov. 30 |
| AMC Roosevelt Collection 16 | Chicago | Nov. 22 |
| AMC Village Crossing 18 | Chicago | Nov. 23 |
| Regal City North | Chicago | Dec. 1 or later |
If your nearest IMAX screen is an AMC or the TCL Chinese, aim for opening weekend or earlier: every one in the table still lists IMAX shows on Sunday, Nov. 22, and none of the AMC IMAX screens we checked lists any after Nov. 24.
How much are Sunrise on the Reaping tickets?
There is no single price: each theater sets its own, and it varies by format, day and time.
Lionsgate and the chains have not published a standard ticket price, and Fandango shows the price once you pick a theater and showtime. The prices that are published belong to promotions:
- up to $14 off two or more IMAX tickets with Fandango’s SOTRIMAX code
- Fandango’s $44.99 ticket-and-print bundle, plus shipping
- Cinemark’s $40 XD Super Ticket
- the $9.99-a-month FanClub membership behind Fandango’s free-ticket offer
Each one is explained below with its conditions.
What do Fandango’s Sunrise on the Reaping offers include?
Fandango has an IMAX discount code, a ticket-and-print bundle, a free ticket for new members who join its paid FanClub and two gifts with a ticket purchase, plus free, ad-supported streaming of the earlier films through Oct. 31.
- SOTRIMAX: up to $14 off when you buy two or more IMAX tickets in one purchase on Fandango.com or the Fandango app, logged in to a free Fandango account (you must be 18 or older). It runs from 6 a.m. PT on Oct. 28 to 11:59 p.m. PT on Nov. 24. It is limited to one use per person, works in the US only and not at box offices, and can’t be combined with other offers. Redemptions are capped, and the code stops working early if they run out or the film leaves IMAX.
- Collectible Print Bundle, $44.99 plus shipping: a code for one ticket in any format at a participating US theater, used on Fandango, plus a Premium Collectible Print that ships from November. It is non-refundable, buyers must be 18 or older, it ships to US addresses only, and it is sold while supplies last.
- FanClub free ticket: new FanClub members who add a paid FanClub membership ($9.99 a month plus tax) to a Sunrise on the Reaping ticket order get up to one free ticket at checkout. It is once per person, US only and for a limited time.
- Audible trial: buy a ticket on Fandango by 11:59 p.m. PT on Dec. 11, 2026 and you get an emailed link to a two-month Audible Standard free trial. It is not open to current Audible members, anyone who canceled within the past six months or anyone already on a free trial. The link must be used by Dec. 11, 2027. After the trial, the membership continues at the then-current price, now $8.99 a month plus tax, until you cancel.
- Soundtrack discount: buy a ticket by 11:59 p.m. PT on Dec. 14, 2026 and you get an emailed code for 20% off the official soundtrack on vinyl or CD, usable until June 18, 2027.
- Earlier films: Fandango’s offer says all five earlier Hunger Games films are free on Fandango Stream, with limited ads and no subscription or login. Lionsgate and Fandango’s announcement says the free run lasts from Oct. 16 through Oct. 31.
Fandango says it can change or cancel any of these offers at any time.
Which theater chains have Sunrise on the Reaping popcorn tins and buckets?
As of 2:15 p.m. ET on Oct. 28, Cinemark’s $40 XD Super Ticket was the only chain item with a price; Regal, AMC, Marcus and Showcase had revealed items without prices.
- Cinemark: the $40 XD Super Ticket includes a movie ticket, a collectible popcorn tin and a pin. Fantasyland News reports that the ticket is for a Cinemark XD showing on Thursday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m., that the tin holds 130 ounces and that a medium drink is included. We could not confirm those details on Cinemark’s site, so treat them as reported. The same report lists two popcorn buckets, a tumbler and a blanket as coming soon, without prices.
- Regal: three items, with no prices yet: a Regal-only Book Tin that comes with a large popcorn, a collectible combo of a popcorn bucket and a matching cup that comes filled with popcorn and soda, and a fleece blanket. They arrive at select Regal theaters on Nov. 18 and are sold while supplies last.
- AMC: a Flint Striker Tin that comes with popcorn (gourmet popcorn is not included, and AMC Stubs upgrades don’t apply) and a Plush Throw, with no prices or date. This comes from a single report, Fantasyland News, updated at 11:52 a.m. ET on Oct. 28.
- Marcus and Showcase: Marcus Theatres has a popcorn bucket coming soon, and Showcase Cinemas has a bucket and a tumbler from Nov. 20. Neither has a price yet, and this also comes from Fantasyland News alone.
How long is Sunrise on the Reaping, and what is it rated?
It is rated PG-13 for strong violence, bloody images, disturbing material, some smoking and teen drinking, and it runs about 2 hours 38 minutes by the BBFC’s timing; Fandango lists 2 hours 30 minutes.
The running time comes from the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), which timed the 2D and 3D versions at 158 minutes 5 seconds and the IMAX version at 157 minutes 59 seconds. Fandango’s listing still said 2 hours 30 minutes when we checked at 2:14 p.m. ET on Oct. 28. We go with the BBFC figure because it is the board’s timing of the version submitted for classification. Either way, allow for the trailers and ads your theater runs before the film starts.
Some AMC listings carry an Adult Supervision Required tag, so check the theater’s policy if teenagers are going on their own.
What is Sunrise on the Reaping about, and who is in it?
It follows 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy of District 12 into the 50th Hunger Games, the Second Quarter Quell, which has twice as many tributes, 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games.
In Lionsgate’s synopsis, Haymitch forms an alliance with fellow tribute Maysilee Donner and joins a coalition set on challenging the Capitol under President Snow. Francis Lawrence, who also directed Catching Fire, directs from a screenplay by Billy Ray and Michael Lesslie, based on Suzanne Collins’s 2025 novel.
These are the main cast members and the roles Fandango lists for them.
| Actor | Role |
|---|---|
| Joseph Zada | Haymitch Abernathy |
| Mckenna Grace | Maysilee Donner |
| Whitney Peak | Lenore Dove Baird |
| Ralph Fiennes | President Snow |
| Jesse Plemons | Plutarch Heavensbee |
| Elle Fanning | Effie Trinket |
| Kieran Culkin | Caesar Flickerman |
| Glenn Close | Drusilla Sickle |
| Maya Hawke | Wiress |
| Kelvin Harrison Jr. | Beetee Latier |
| Lili Taylor | Mags Flanagan |
| Billy Porter | Magno Stift |
| Ben Wang | Wyatt Callow |
When does Sunrise on the Reaping open in the UK?
On Friday, Nov. 20, the same day as in the US, rated 12A by the BBFC for moderate violence, injury detail, threat and upsetting scenes.
A 12A rating means children under 12 can see it in a cinema with an adult. Lionsgate UK distributes the film, and the BBFC has classified 2D, 3D and 2D IMAX versions. This guide covers US listings, so check your cinema chain for UK booking.
