Key takeaways
  • 18 shows from Fri 3 Sep to Sat 30 Oct 2027, all on Fridays or Saturdays inside a travelling Big Top tent: four each in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, and two each in Cairns, Perth and Adelaide.
  • The Artist and Telstra Plus presales open Wed 14 Oct 2026, the Live Nation presale Fri 16 Oct, and the general on-sale Mon 19 Oct on Ticketmaster. Every time is local to the venue, so Melbourne (10am AEDT) opens an hour before Brisbane (10am AEST).
  • ⚠️ Guaranteed Artist Presale access needs a free sign-up at powderfinger.com by 11pm AEDT on Tue 13 Oct 2026 (10pm AEST, 10:30pm ACDT, 8pm AWST). After that deadline access is no longer guaranteed, and late sign-ups may not get a link.
  • ⚠️ No prices have been published, VIP packages included. The band says full pricing goes up on Ticketmaster before sales open and is the same in the presales and the general on-sale.
  • The general on-sale limit is 8 tickets per show. Tickets are mobile-only, and the barcode appears 7 days before the show.
  • All shows are all ages, and under-18s need a ticketed adult. Support acts have not been named; the band will pick an all-Australian line-up, different on each date, and promises a ‘very special’ support announcement in AusMusic Month, November 2026.

Powderfinger are playing 18 shows across Australia in 2027, all inside a travelling Big Top tent, from Friday 3 September in Brisbane to Saturday 30 October in Melbourne, with Cairns, Perth, Sydney and Adelaide in between. Presales start on Wednesday 14 October 2026, the general on-sale is Monday 19 October 2026 through Ticketmaster, and every sale time is set in the venue’s time zone, not yours. Ticket prices have not been published yet.

Everything below was checked at 3:55am AEDT on Tuesday 13 October 2026 (16:55 UTC on Monday 12 October). At that point no presale had opened, Ticketmaster showed no prices, and no extra shows had been added. The band confirmed the reunion in an Instagram video on Friday 9 October, AAP reported. Its FAQ says the full tour announcement went live at 6am on Monday 12 October, and ABC News published the dates at 6am AEDT that morning.

When and where are Powderfinger playing in 2027?

Powderfinger play 18 nights in six cities between Friday 3 September and Saturday 30 October 2027, and every show falls on a Friday or a Saturday. Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne get four shows each, spread over two weekends. Cairns, Perth and Adelaide get two. The tour is billed as Powderfinger Live 2027, and no dates outside Australia have been announced.

Each date below links to that show’s page on Ticketmaster Australia, the authorised seller.

All 18 are also listed together on Ticketmaster’s Powderfinger page . Ticketmaster shows every event at 5pm local time, which matches the band’s FAQ: gates open at 5pm, though the FAQ says that may change. What time Powderfinger themselves go on has not been announced.

What is the Big Top, and where does it go up?

Every show takes place inside a travelling, stadium-sized Big Top tent, which is put up on the grounds listed for each city. So the Brisbane shows are in the tent at Brisbane Showgrounds, the Cairns shows in the tent at Cazalys Stadium, and the same goes for Wellington Square, The Domain, Ellis Park and Melbourne Park Oval. The band’s FAQ describes the idea as “part festival, part spectacle”.

Inside there are standing tickets, reserved seats and accessible tickets, and Live Nation’s tour page mentions a food and drink line-up on site.

The tent has support poles, and some seats are sold as Restricted View Seating. That label means a pole may partly block your view of the stage. If you are buying seats, check for it before you pay.

When do Powderfinger presales and the general on-sale start?

There are three presales across Wednesday 14 and Friday 16 October 2026, then the general on-sale on Monday 19 October, and every time is local to the venue you are buying for. The Artist Presale and the Telstra Plus presale open at the same time on Wednesday and run until the same local time on Friday 16 October. The Live Nation presale opens on Friday 16 October, an hour later in the day than Wednesday’s time in each city. Every presale can end early if its allocation sells out.

According to the band’s FAQ, the Live Nation presale closes on Saturday 17 October at 9am in Brisbane and Melbourne, 10am in Cairns and Perth, and 12pm in Sydney and Adelaide, all local time, or earlier if the allocation is exhausted.

The general on-sale has no end time. It runs until tickets are gone, and the FAQ says only limited tickets will be available by then, varying by show and price tier.

Which presale can you get into?

Anyone who signs up as a Live Nation member can use the Live Nation presale, Telstra Plus members have their own, and the Artist Presale is for fans signed up at powderfinger.com, with access guaranteed only for those registered by 11pm AEDT on Tuesday 13 October 2026.

  • Artist Presale. Sign up free at powderfinger.com and verify your email address. One sign-up covers all 18 shows, following the band on social media does not count, and duplicate sign-ups are filtered out. The deadline for guaranteed access is 11pm AEDT on Tuesday 13 October 2026, which is 10pm AEST in Brisbane and Cairns, 10:30pm ACDT in Adelaide and 8pm AWST in Perth. It was still open when this page was checked at 3:55am AEDT that day. If you are reading after 11pm AEDT on 13 October, guaranteed access has closed, and the band says late sign-ups may not get a link; you can still try the Live Nation presale or the general on-sale. Links go out by email at 12am AEDT on Wednesday 14 October.
  • Telstra Plus presale. Only for Telstra Plus members. Telstra’s tickets page has the details.
  • Live Nation presale. Open to anyone who signs up as a Live Nation member. Register with Live Nation Australia before Friday, then log in when your city opens and click Buy Tickets. No code is needed. Live Nation runs this presale and lists it on its Powderfinger tour page .

No presale guarantees you a ticket. It only gets you a turn before the general on-sale. Ticketmaster is the authorised seller for every sale, so you need a My Ticketmaster account and must be logged in to it. If your Artist Presale email address is different from your Ticketmaster one, the FAQ says the link still works as long as you are signed in to Ticketmaster.

Why do Melbourne and Sydney open at different times?

Because the sales are staggered city by city: Melbourne opens at 10am AEDT and Sydney at 1pm AEDT, three hours later, even though both cities are on the same clock. The band’s FAQ says only that times are staggered in each city, and gives no reason for the order.

Time zones add to the spread. Queensland and Western Australia don’t use daylight saving, so 10am in Brisbane lands an hour after 10am in Melbourne, and the Wednesday presales open in six steps over four hours, from 10am to 2pm Sydney and Melbourne time. If you are trying for more than one city, or buying for a show in another state, this is the real order on Wednesday 14 October, and again on Monday 19 October:

Melbourne10am AEDT10am
Brisbane10am AEST11am
Cairns11am AEST12pm
Sydney1pm AEDT1pm

For the Live Nation presale on Friday 16 October, add an hour to every row.

How much are Powderfinger tickets?

Prices have not been published for any ticket, including the two VIP packages. The band’s FAQ says the full pricing structure will go up on the official Ticketmaster page before tickets go on sale, and that presale and general on-sale prices are the same. Asked whether there will be dynamic or surge pricing, the FAQ gives only that same answer, so it has not said either way.

When this page was checked, neither the band’s site, Ticketmaster nor Live Nation showed a price. Any figure quoted before Ticketmaster posts its pricing did not come from the seller.

What do the VIP packages include?

There are two VIP packages, both on sale in the presales and the general on-sale; Live Nation runs them, and its page and Ticketmaster’s list the same inclusions.

  • Vulture Street Experience: one general admission standing ticket in a separate VIP Pit at the very front of the tent. VIP Pit holders can leave and re-enter the Pit.
  • Passenger Seat Experience: one reserved seat in a prime location. The location varies by venue.

Both packages include early entry, a VIP bar, dedicated premium toilets, a chance to buy tour merchandise before the show (where available), VIP check-in and staff, a commemorative laminate and lanyard, and an exclusive VIP edition of Hurry Up And Wait, a hardcover photography book by Darren Middleton. Neither has a published price.

How many tickets can you buy, and how do they arrive?

At the general on-sale the limit is 8 tickets per show, and every ticket is mobile-only in the Ticketmaster app. The FAQ does not state a separate limit for the presales. Going over the limit can get orders cancelled, including orders linked by the same name, email, address or card.

  • No printed tickets. The barcode stays hidden until 7 days before your show, which the band describes as an anti-scalping measure.
  • Transfers are allowed through Ticketmaster’s Ticket Transfer feature in the app.
  • Refunds follow Ticketmaster’s refund policy.
  • Resale rules have not been published yet. The FAQ says that information will be added later.

Buy only from Ticketmaster. The band’s FAQ names it as the authorised ticket seller and warns that tickets listed elsewhere before the on-sale are speculative: the seller does not have them yet and may not be able to get them.

Are the shows all ages, and how accessible are they?

All 18 shows are all ages, and the band’s FAQ lists accessible platforms, an Auslan interpreter and a quiet space.

  • Age rules. Under-18s must be with a responsible adult aged 18 or over who also holds a ticket. The FAQ strongly recommends seated tickets for anyone 14 and under, subject to availability.
  • Platforms. There are two accessible platforms, each with wheelchair and companion or carer spaces.
  • Booking. Buy accessible tickets on Ticketmaster, send a request through the Ticketmaster Help Centre (topic: Accessible Bookings, event: Powderfinger Live 2027), or call Ticketmaster’s Accessible Booking Line on 1300 446 925, Monday to Sunday, 9am to 5pm AEDT (8am to 4pm AEST in Queensland, 8:30am to 4:30pm ACDT in Adelaide, 6am to 2pm AWST in Perth). That line only handles accessibility and Companion Card bookings, and a request does not guarantee a ticket.
  • Companion Card tickets can be bought online, subject to the usual Companion Card check.
  • Deaf and hard-of-hearing fans have a separate allocation of hearing-accessible tickets, sold through their own link and subject to the final screen set-up at each venue.
  • Auslan. An Auslan interpreter will be provided.
  • Quiet space. A Crowd Care / Quiet Space will be set up at the medical tent at each show.

Who is supporting Powderfinger?

No support acts have been named yet. The band says it will pick an all-Australian line-up, with different artists on each date, and promises a “very special” support announcement during AusMusic Month in November 2026.

The tour’s charity partner is Mission Australia. The band is raising money for its work giving people access to safe and secure homes, and the band’s site already links to a tour donation page run by Mission Australia.

Who is in Powderfinger, and when did they last tour?

All five members are returning (Bernard Fanning, Darren Middleton, Ian Haug, John ‘JC’ Collins and Jon Coghill), and this is their first tour since the 2010 Sunsets farewell tour. That tour ended with their final show at the Riverstage in Brisbane on 13 November 2010.

They have not been completely silent since. In May 2020 the band streamed One Night Lonely on YouTube, a charity performance for Support Act and Beyond Blue with the members playing in isolation from one another. There has been no tour in between.

What should you do before your city opens?

Sign in to My Ticketmaster now and check your details, because every presale and the general on-sale runs through that account. The band’s FAQ gives this advice:

  • Check your account early. Confirm your email, phone and billing details. You may be sent a verification code by text before you can enter the waiting room.
  • Join the waiting room up to 30 minutes before your city opens.
  • One browser, one device. Separate tabs for different shows are fine; two tabs for the same show are not.
  • Tell your bank in advance, so it does not flag the payment.
  • Don’t refresh once the sale starts. The seat map updates by itself. If you get a message that your seats can’t be reserved, someone else got them first, so clear your selection and pick again.
  • If something fails during a presale, stay on the official ticketing page and try again rather than switching sites. Your access lasts for the whole presale window or until tickets run out.

The same venue-local rule applied to Calvin Harris’s Australian on-sales in September, so set your alarm by the venue’s clock, not your own.

How we verified this

Pinned at 16:55 UTC on Monday 12 October 2026, which is 3:55am AEDT on Tuesday 13 October. At that time no presale had opened, no prices were published anywhere, and no shows had been added.

Dates, venues and the Big Top format rest on the band’s official site, checked show by show against Ticketmaster Australia’s Powderfinger page, whose event data lists the same 18 events as “Powderfinger - Live 2027” at 5pm local time, and against ABC News and Music Feeds, both published on 12 October 2026. AAP’s report as carried by InDaily (published the morning of Friday 9 October) supplied the Instagram video that confirmed the reunion that day; the band’s FAQ gives 6am on Monday 12 October for the full announcement, which matches ABC News’s publication time of 6am AEDT. The final 2010 show at Brisbane’s Riverstage on 13 November 2010 comes from InDaily’s AAP photo caption and is repeated on Live Nation’s page and in Music Feeds. InDaily describes One Night Lonely as a COVID-19 performance played in isolation but gives no year; its date (Saturday 23 May 2020, on YouTube, for Support Act and Beyond Blue) comes from The Music Network and Beat Magazine, both published in May 2020. The members’ names and spellings match Live Nation’s page and Music Feeds.

Sale times come from the band’s FAQ and its per-city table. Ticketmaster’s FAQ, Live Nation’s page, ABC News and Music Feeds give the same opening times. The band’s FAQ says times are “staggered in each city” and ABC News says the same; neither gives a reason, so this page does not offer one. The Live Nation presale’s Saturday 17 October closing times appear only on the band’s site; Live Nation’s own page says that presale runs until Monday 19 October. Because the two disagree, this page follows the band’s site and notes that every presale can end early once its allocation is exhausted. The “same moment” table is our own conversion of the published local times (AEST is UTC+10, AEDT UTC+11, ACDT UTC+10:30, AWST UTC+8; NSW, Victoria and South Australia moved to daylight time on 4 October 2026).

Most ticket rules have two sources. The Artist Presale deadline and the 12am link email, the 8-ticket limit, mobile-only delivery with the 7-day barcode delay, the age rules and the Accessible Booking Line all appear in both the band’s FAQ and Ticketmaster’s Powderfinger page. The VIP inclusions appear identically on Live Nation’s page and on Ticketmaster’s Powderfinger page; the two package names also appear in the band’s FAQ. Single-source points: the refund, transfer and resale lines, the two accessible platforms, Companion Card bookings, the hearing-accessible allocation, the Auslan interpreter, the Quiet Space and the Mission Australia donation page come from the band’s site alone.

No prices are printed because none have been published. The band’s site, Ticketmaster’s Powderfinger page and Live Nation’s page showed none, and Ticketmaster’s event data carries no price field. A price range circulating online had no traceable source and is not used. Live Nation is described only as running its own presale and the VIP packages; neither the band’s site nor Ticketmaster credits a promoter, so this page names none.

This page carries no affiliate links and no tracking parameters. Ticket links go only to Ticketmaster Australia and Live Nation Australia. Ticketmaster’s Powderfinger page and both Live Nation pages returned HTTP 200 with the expected page titles, while made-up paths on each domain returned 404. Ticketmaster’s 18 individual event pages refuse automated requests (HTTP 401, the same response a made-up event ID gets), so each event URL was confirmed from Ticketmaster’s own Powderfinger page, which publishes that exact URL for each date, and from the band’s site, whose Tickets buttons carry the same 18 event IDs in the same order.
