The boss haul is also given as a guaranteed 2 to 4 per round now rather than an average of three: the databases publish the 1-to-2 range but not how it splits, so the average was an assumption.

Overheat Rifle Ammo also gets 20 rounds from a core rather than 10, unlike the other three ammo types. And breeding Jetragon for butchering is a direct route the one-hour boss timer does not cap, so crafting is no longer presented as the only scalable option.
- — Hexolite, the expensive half of a Thermal Core, does not have to be smelted at all: Necromus and Paladius on the starting map and Neptilius in a dungeon each drop 10 of it at 100%, which is five cores' worth of the costly ingredient from one level-60 kill. The farming section previously sent you to the furnace for all of it.
- — Aegidron and Jetragon do respawn, so the boss route is a real option — this guide previously said they were not farmable. See the note above for how the respawn actually works. The platform list now includes the macOS version and PC Game Pass, and legendary weapon costs are broken out: they are not all 10, the Laser Gatling Gun is 6 and the Plasma Cannon 8.
- — The crafting-work figures are now given as multiples of the Thermal Core step rather than as raw numbers. Two databases publish work values a hundred times apart and two more do not publish them at all, so no absolute figure here would have been safe — the proportions, which are identical in both, are what the advice rests on.

- Thermal Core unlocks at Technology 59 and is crafted from 4 Flame Organ, 8 Coal, 2 Corrosive Solvent and 2 Hexolite at a Production Assembly Line II, Advanced Workshop or Ancient Workbench. Two Pals also drop it at a flat 100%: Jetragon and the field boss Aegidron, 1 to 2 each.
- The recipe understates the cost. Two of its four lines are crafts in their own right, and the two Hexolite alone are twice as much work as the Thermal Core step. A finished core is about three times the work of that step, and roughly two-thirds of it is spent before the core itself starts.
- A Wing Pack’s full chain is 60 Thermal Core. Its recipe correctly lists 20 directly — but it also calls for 20 AI Core, and every AI Core is another 2 Thermal Core. The crafting menu never totals the two, so you have to open the AI Core recipe yourself.
- Farm the ingredients, not the item — probably. Both Pals that drop Thermal Core are overworld alphas, which respawn on the in-game day cycle, so a full round of both is a guaranteed 2 to 4 cores. How many rounds an hour that is depends on your world’s day length and on how the current patch behaves. Crafting scales with materials you can automate; the boss route scales with a cycle you only partly control.
Thermal Core is the material Palworld 1.0 puts in front of nearly everything worth building at the end of the game, and its recipe is more expensive than it looks — two of the four ingredients are crafts of their own.
Palworld 1.0 launched on 9–10 July 2026 depending on the storefront — Steam lists the 9th, Xbox the 10th — for PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and it is on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. There is also a native macOS build for Apple Silicon on the Mac App Store, which arrived back in March 2025 rather than with 1.0. As of 4 August 2026 we could find no Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 release or announcement from Pocketpair or Nintendo. Everything below is the 1.0 release.
What is the Thermal Core recipe in Palworld 1.0?
Four Flame Organ, eight Coal, two Corrosive Solvent and two Hexolite, for one core. It unlocks in the Technology tree at level 59, and you can make it at a Production Assembly Line II, an Advanced Workshop or the Ancient Workbench.

The trap is in the last two lines. Corrosive Solvent and Hexolite are not things you pick up — each is its own recipe. Craft every intermediate yourself and the four-line recipe opens out into six materials. You do not have to: Hexolite drops ten at a time off three Pals, and Thermal Core itself drops off two, so treat the six as the full-craft path rather than a compulsory shopping list.

Corrosive Solvent is one Venom Gland and one Sulfur, unlocked back at Technology 37. Hexolite is one Chromite and one Hexolite Quartz, unlocked at 58, and it has to go through a Gigantic Furnace or the Ancient Furnace rather than a workbench.
What does one Thermal Core actually cost?
About three times the work of the Thermal Core step itself, and two-thirds of it is spent before that step begins. Each of the two Hexolite the recipe eats costs exactly as much work as the core does.

These are multiples rather than raw numbers on purpose. Three databases give the Thermal Core step as 500,000 and a fourth gives 5,000 — a clean factor of 100, so one of them is almost certainly scaling rather than disagreeing, and there is no way to tell from outside which. All four agree exactly on the ratio between the steps, and the ratio is the part that changes what you do.
This has a practical consequence the crafting menu hides: Hexolite is much the largest part of the job, so on comparable setups the furnace is what you will be waiting on. Queue it well ahead of the cores that need it. Two caveats keep this from being a law: work is not elapsed time, and the two steps use different skills — Hexolite is Kindling, Thermal Core is Handiwork — so your Pals’ suitabilities, your building tiers and your world settings all move the real answer. The Corrosive Solvent, by contrast, is cheap enough on any setup that it is not worth planning around.
What is Thermal Core used for?
Endgame weapons, the heat-resistant armour line, all four high-tier ammo types, AI Core, the Wing Pack — and one research unlock that is easy to miss, since Kindling Lv.6 costs 20 on its own. Every quantity below is one at least two databases give the same figure for. That is corroboration rather than independence — these sites may all be reading the same datamine — and it is not the same as saying every source agrees. The Advanced Shield, for instance, is 5 in two places and 2 in a third, and that third is the same cross-reference table that gets the Wing Pack wrong.

The ammo lines are what quietly drain a stockpile, and they are not all priced the same: Overheat Rifle Ammo gets 20 rounds out of a core, while Rocket Ammo, Charge Rifle Ammo and Plasma Cartridge get 10. One core per ten rounds sounds trivial until you take a Charge Rifle into a boss fight and come home having spent six.
Why does the Wing Pack need 60 when its recipe lists 20?
Because the recipe is right about its own line and silent about the next one: 20 AI Core is another 40 Thermal Core.
The Wing Pack recipe reads 30 Paldium Fragment, 6 Paloxite Ingot, 20 AI Core, 20 Thermal Core and 10 Ancient Civilization Core. Open the AI Core recipe and it is 5 Computer, 10 Soralite Ingot , 2 Thermal Core and 1 Ancient Civilization Core.
So the true bill is 20 direct plus 20 × 2 through the AI Core, which is 60 Thermal Core for one backpack. Traced all the way to the ground that is:

That is 60 core crafts and 120 Hexolite smelts before you touch the Computers, the Soralite Ingots or the Wing Pack itself. If you are building toward one, start the Flame Organ ranch and the Hexolite queue long before you hit Technology 80.
What is the fastest way to farm Thermal Core?
It depends on what you have already built. A full round of both bosses is 2 to 4 cores, and how often you get a round is a world setting rather than a fixed hour.
Both drop generously per kill. What no database publishes is how the 1-or-2 splits, so treat the average below as an assumption, not a measurement:

So a round of both is 2 to 4 cores, guaranteed. If 1 and 2 are equally likely — which is a guess, since the weighting is not published — that averages 3.
Aegidron is a level 79 field boss — “Guardian of Luminous Trails” — in the south-west of the World Tree, just north of the Lacrymal Shoal fast-travel point, at roughly −59, 756 on the World Tree’s own map grid. Sites using a different origin give very different-looking numbers for the same spawn, so navigate by the fast-travel point rather than by typing coordinates from another guide. From the large door, it spawns to the left: drop off the cliff and head for the water, and the fight triggers on approach. It is Dragon and Ground typed and weak to Grass and Ice, and it drops a Giant Pal Soul every time alongside the cores, plus Dragon Radiant Gems and Ancient Relics on its higher-level versions. Ancient Spheres, which unlock at Technology 74, are strongly recommended for catching anything out here — lower-tier spheres are likely to bounce off at these levels. Jetragon is the other dropper.
Both are overworld alpha Pals, and the wikis describe overworld alphas as coming back on the in-game day cycle rather than on a wall clock. At default day-length settings that works out near an hour, which is why a lot of guides simply say “one hour”. Pocketpair does not document the timer, so all of this is community observation: the cadence moves with your world’s day length, and most players also report you have to leave the area for the respawn to trigger.
So a Wing Pack’s 60 cores is somewhere between 15 and 30 rounds of both bosses, and around 20 if the drop splits evenly. That is an estimate resting on an unpublished drop weighting and on a day-length setting you can change, not a measured figure.
There may be a third route the respawn cycle does not cap. Jetragon breeds true — Jetragon × Jetragon — and the databases list the same drop table on ordinary Jetragon, so breeding plus butchering would scale with pens rather than with the day cycle. Test it on a couple of Pals before you build a farm around it: a drop table is not proof that butchering triggers it in the current patch, and there are player reports of butchered Pals yielding nothing. This guide is not going to claim a rate for something it cannot confirm.
What that leaves is a genuine choice rather than one answer:

There is no single winner. If you already have mines and furnaces running, crafting is the steadiest; if you are strong enough to clear the World Tree quickly, boss runs top you up; if you have a serious breeding operation, that scales furthest. For most players the ranch-and-furnace route is the one to build first, because it runs while you are doing something else. Set up:
- Flame Organ — ranch-produced by Flambelle, Kelpsea Ignis and Rooby, and dropped by fire Pals when defeated. Automate this first: four per core adds up faster than anything else on the list.
- Venom Gland — also ranch-produced, by Depresso and Caprity Noct. Two of the six materials come off a ranch, not one, so both pens are worth building before you start.
- Coal — mined, and the one ingredient you probably already have a base for.
- Hexolite Quartz and Chromite — can be mined, then smelted together in a Gigantic Furnace. This is the real constraint, so build furnace capacity rather than more assembly lines. But do not smelt all of it. Three Pals drop finished Hexolite outright at 100%: Necromus and Paladius, both level 60 field bosses on the starting map, and Neptilius, a level 60 dungeon alpha. They drop 10 each — five Thermal Cores’ worth of the expensive half, from one kill, at a level you can reach long before the World Tree. Necromus sits at The Furthest Flats, 440, 679.
- Sulfur — mined, cheap, and the Corrosive Solvent step is a rounding error against the rest. Do not over-plan it.

What do the Ancient structures cost?
Between 10 and 30 Thermal Core each, and they will dominate any build plan they are part of.

The Ancient Furnace is the one to notice, because it is circular: 20 Thermal Core to build the furnace that smelts the Hexolite that Thermal Cores are made of. You will be making those 20 in a Gigantic Furnace first.
An earlier version of this guide printed no numbers here at all, on the grounds that the databases disagreed. They do — but the disagreement is one-sided. It comes from a single cross-reference table, and that same table also lists the Wing Pack at 2 Thermal Core and AI Core at 10, which is the right pair of numbers on the wrong pair of items. The same site’s own item pages agree with everyone else. When a summary table and an item page disagree, believe the item page — and do not mistake one bad table for a genuine dispute, which is what this guide did.
The bottom line
Thermal Core is not hard to make; it is hard to make enough of. The recipe is four lines but six materials, a finished core is about three times the work of the step that bears its name, and the single most desirable thing it feeds — the Wing Pack — costs three times what its own recipe advertises.
Automate Flame Organ, over-build furnace capacity for Hexolite, and treat Aegidron and Jetragon as a bonus rather than a farm. If you are heading for a Wing Pack, that is 240 Flame Organ and 480 Coal standing between you and the flight.
How we verified this
EVERY RECIPE HERE COMES FROM PLAYER-BUILT DATABASES, not from Pocketpair. Pocketpair does not publish a recipe table, so these figures are read out of the game’s own files by third parties. Where they agree that is good evidence; it is not an official source, and a patch can move any of it.
THE RECIPE AND THE DROP RATES are the same across the two major Palworld databases and a third wiki: 4 Flame Organ, 8 Coal, 2 Corrosive Solvent and 2 Hexolite for one core, Technology 59, and Jetragon and Aegidron both dropping 1 to 2 at 100%. The 3-point unlock cost is a step weaker: the item databases give the level but not the points, and it rests on two technology-tree pages instead.
THE COST ARITHMETIC IS OURS. The six raw materials, the 3.1× work figure and the Wing Pack’s 60 are calculations from the published recipes, not numbers anyone printed. They are shown here in full so they can be checked rather than taken on trust. All of them assume you craft every intermediate yourself; both Hexolite and Thermal Core also drop off Pals, so the raw-material totals are a ceiling rather than an obligation.
