Key takeaways
  • Base Jormuntide (Water/Dragon) doesn’t roam the map — in Palworld 1.0 you meet it as the Level 55 Alpha ‘Emperor of the Sea’ at ~(350, −85) near the Altar of the Windcaller, or you hatch one from a Huge Dragon Egg. The old (−176, −266) spot is Early Access and was removed.
  • Jormuntide and Jormuntide Ignis are DIFFERENT Pals. Jormuntide is Water/Dragon; Jormuntide Ignis is Fire/Dragon (the Lv 7 Kindling production Pal most players actually want), found in Wildlife Sanctuary No. 2 at ~(−660, −115).
  • To make Jormuntide Ignis, breed Blazehowl + Jormuntide — a fixed ‘Unique Combo’ that works regardless of breeding power. Base Jormuntide has no fixed recipe; it’s the combi-rank 310 target of ~20 pairs, so use a calculator (or just hatch the egg).
  • The two charts below map the spawn coordinates and lay out the full breeding path from egg to Ignis.

If you’ve searched “Palworld Jormuntide location” and come away confused, here’s why: base Jormuntide doesn’t roam the overworld at all. In Palworld 1.0 you meet it in the wild only as a Level 55 Alpha boss at roughly (350, −85) — or you skip the hunt and hatch one from a Huge Dragon Egg. This guide gives the exact coordinates, the full breeding path, and — most importantly — keeps Jormuntide (Water/Dragon) and Jormuntide Ignis (Fire/Dragon) straight, because they’re two different Pals that half the guides online blur together.

Where to find Jormuntide in Palworld 1.0

Base Jormuntide is a Water/Dragon “sea dragon,” and it does not spawn as an ordinary field Pal — not by day, not by night. You get it one of two ways: fight its Alpha in the wild, or hatch a Huge Dragon Egg.

Schematic coordinate map of Jormuntide spawns in Palworld 1.0: the live Level 55 Alpha ‘Emperor of the Sea’ at (350, −85) in blue (Water/Dragon), Jormuntide Ignis at roughly (−660, −115) in Wildlife Sanctuary No. 2 in orange (Fire/Dragon, a separate Pal), and the greyed-out (−176, −266) Early Access spot that was removed in 1.0.

A few things the map makes clear:

  • The Alpha at ~(350, −85) is the only live overworld Jormuntide in 1.0. Datamined as “Emperor of the Sea” (internal name Umihebi, “sea snake”), it’s a Level 55 boss by the lake near the Altar of the Windcaller fast-travel point. It favours water, so bring something that fights on or over it.
  • The old ~(−176, −266) spot in the Bamboo Groves is gone. That was the Early Access Alpha (Level 45). 1.0 relocated the boss and bumped it to 55 — but a lot of “best Jormuntide location” pages still recycle the old pin, which is why it’s greyed and struck out above.
  • There are also rumored Level 80 field spawns in the World Tree region. Those exist in the data but aren’t datamined to exact coordinates, so we haven’t pinned them.

Jormuntide vs Jormuntide Ignis — don’t confuse them

This is the one mistake to avoid. They share a name and a silhouette, but they are separate Paldex entries:

Why you want itTop base waterer + water mountThe prize — Lv 7 Kindling for cooking/ore refining, SS-tier Fire attacker

The Ignis (Fire/Dragon) is the one most players are actually hunting — its Level 7 Kindling makes it one of the best production Pals in the game. And the catch is that you need a base Jormuntide to breed one.

How to breed Jormuntide — and Jormuntide Ignis

Here’s the full path from nothing to a Jormuntide Ignis. The key relationship: a base Jormuntide is a required parent for the Ignis recipe, so you get the Water/Dragon one first (egg or Alpha), then combine it with a Blazehowl.

Breeding-path flow diagram for Palworld 1.0 Jormuntide: hatch a Huge Dragon Egg or catch the Level 55 Alpha to get a Water/Dragon Jormuntide, then breed Jormuntide plus Blazehowl to make Jormuntide Ignis (Fire/Dragon), a guaranteed Unique Combo; Ignis plus Ignis also breeds Ignis.

Two rules make this simple:

  • Blazehowl + Jormuntide is a special pairing, so it produces Ignis regardless of breeding power — you don’t need to chase ranks or specific genders beyond opposite-sex parents. Blazehowl is a Fire/Dark wolf Pal (not a Jormuntide), commonly found around the volcanic areas.
  • Base Jormuntide has no single “the” recipe. It’s the convergence target of many pairs (its breeding rank is community-datamined at 310), and different calculators surface different pairs with little overlap — so rather than print one that might be wrong, plug your box into our Palworld breeding calculator and it’ll list every pair that lands on Jormuntide. Honestly, though, hatching a Huge Dragon Egg is usually less hassle than breeding the base one.

How to catch Jormuntide (and Ignis)

Because both only appear at high levels in 1.0, come over-levelled and exploit their weaknesses:

  • Base Jormuntide (Water/Dragon) — the Lv 55 Alpha takes extra damage from Electric and Ice. Bring an Electric attacker (Grizzbolt, Mossanda Lux) or an Ice Pal, whittle its HP, then throw high-tier spheres (Hyper/Ultra/Legendary).
  • Jormuntide Ignis (Fire/Dragon) — weak to Water and Ice. It sits in Wildlife Sanctuary No. 2 at ~(−660, −115), where wild levels run ~66–67, so expect a fight — and remember capturing inside a sanctuary triggers the wanted/penalty mechanic. See our Wildlife Sanctuary guide for how to get in and out cleanly.

There’s no single official “recommended catch level” in 1.0 — treat these as high-end targets and bring a counter that out-levels the spawn.

What Jormuntide is good for

  • Jormuntide (Water): Level 7 Watering makes it a top-tier base waterer for plantations and Paldium/flour production, and its partner skill turns it into a water mount that never drains stamina on water — genuinely useful for crossing the map. Good spot for it? See our best base locations guide.
  • Jormuntide Ignis (Fire): the star. Level 7 Kindling powers cooking and ore refining at a base, and it doubles as a lava-proof mount and an SS-tier Fire attacker. It’s a mainstay on most best base Pals lists for a reason.

Frequently asked questions

Where is Jormuntide in Palworld 1.0?

Base Jormuntide (Water/Dragon) doesn’t roam the map. In the wild it’s the Level 55 Alpha “Emperor of the Sea” at ~(350, −85), near the Altar of the Windcaller. Otherwise you hatch it from a Huge Dragon Egg. The old (−176, −266) Bamboo Groves spot was removed when 1.0 launched.

Is Jormuntide the fire one?

No — that’s Jormuntide Ignis, a separate Fire/Dragon Pal. Base Jormuntide is Water/Dragon. Ignis is the Lv 7 Kindling production Pal found in Wildlife Sanctuary No. 2 at ~(−660, −115).

How do you get Jormuntide Ignis?

Breed Blazehowl + Jormuntide — a fixed Unique Combo that guarantees an Ignis regardless of breeding power. You need a base Jormuntide first (hatch a Huge Dragon Egg or catch the Alpha). Two Ignis bred together also make an Ignis.

What breeds a regular Jormuntide?

There’s no single fixed recipe — Jormuntide is the combi-rank 310 target of roughly 20 pairs, so different combos work. Use our breeding calculator for the exact pairs, or just hatch a Huge Dragon Egg.

What level is the Alpha Jormuntide?

Level 55 in Palworld 1.0 (it was Level 45 in Early Access). Bring Electric or Ice Pals and high-tier spheres.

The bottom line

Don’t waste time looking for Jormuntide in the tall grass — it isn’t there. Grab the Water/Dragon one from the Level 55 Alpha at ~(350, −85) or a Huge Dragon Egg, then feed it plus a Blazehowl into the breeding farm for the Jormuntide Ignis you actually came for. Keep the two straight (Water vs Fire), bring the right counter-element, and use the breeding calculator if you’d rather breed the base one than fight the Alpha.

How we verified this
Palworld 1.0 launched 10 July 2026; this guide was verified 15 July 2026 against paldb.cc (datamine), game8 (updated for 1.0), palworld.wiki.gg, TheGamer and allthings.how’s 1.0 relocation table. The single most important thing kept straight: Jormuntide (Water/Dragon) and Jormuntide Ignis (Fire/Dragon) are separate Pals with separate spawns and recipes — every location and combo here is labelled by element to prevent a mix-up. Base Jormuntide’s live 1.0 Alpha is the datamined “Emperor of the Sea” (internal Umihebi), Level 55 at (350, −85); the (−176, −266) Bamboo Groves spot at Level 45 is the Early Access location, retired in 1.0 (named as the previous spot in allthings.how’s relocation table; paldb datamines only one boss now), so it appears on the map greyed and marked “removed”. game8’s “(350, 86)” is a positive-Y sign typo — paldb and wiki.gg both give (350, −85). Jormuntide Ignis’s ~(−660, −115) sanctuary coordinate is two-source (rounds to −662, −116 elsewhere) and sits inside a Wildlife Sanctuary, so capturing there triggers the sanctuary penalty; its exact overworld pin is less firmly datamined than the base Alpha, and we hedge it. Jormuntide Ignis = Blazehowl + Jormuntide is confirmed as a fixed “Unique Combo” on paldb (introduced in the Sakurajima update, unchanged by 1.0). Base Jormuntide has no unique recipe — it’s a combi-rank (310, community-datamined) convergence target; the two calculator source lists we checked had zero overlap, so we do NOT print a single “the” pair and instead point to our breeding calculator. Work-suitability levels (Watering/Kindling Lv 7) come from current datamined sources; legacy tools still show Lv 4, a likely-but-unconfirmed 1.0 buff. Lv 80 World Tree field spawns for both Pals are referenced but weren’t datamined to exact coordinates, so they’re mentioned, not pinned. Coordinates are approximate in-game readouts. Correct as of 15 July 2026; a patch can move any of these.
