Step 1: Unlock the quest

The Panthalus quest only opens once you’ve cleared the game’s main tower ladder. The eighth and final tower boss — Auri & Shaolong, atop the new Sunreach sky islands (Level 68) — is the trigger: beat them, speak to Auri again to wrap the Sunreach story, and a marker drops on the Deserted Islet in the far south.

Travel there and speak to the Ancient Civilization Researcher by the fast-travel point. She hands you the Faded Schematic (which unlocks the Echoing Flute recipe) and marks the four whale-skeleton sites on your map.

Step 2: Collect the four Echobones

Each Echobone is a glowing bone at a giant-whale skeleton, and the four sites are spread right across the island — north to south, east to west:

A couple of honest notes: the Marine and Seafoam coordinates are confirmed by more than one source, but the Silent and Tidewind numbers (and the Deserted Islet’s exact figure) are single-source and differ slightly between guides — treat them as close, not surveyor-exact. Once you have all four bones, combine them (one of each) into the Echoing Flute. The important part: it crafts at any workbench — even a Primitive Workbench works — so don’t waste time hunting for an “Ancient Workshop.” It’s a cheap craft; the whole cost is the four bones you just gathered.

Step 4: Summon and catch Panthalus

Return to the Deserted Islet and play the flute at the shrine beside the Researcher. A cutscene summons the Level 70 Panthalus — it exists nowhere else in the world, so this shrine is the only place you’ll ever fight it.

Inside waits the finale: three Level 78 guardian bosses, then the typeless final boss Zenara & Astralym (Level 80, ~420,000 HP, no elemental weakness) — a pure gear-and-skill check. Beating it rolls the credits; there’s no New Game Plus, so you carry on in the same world afterward. (You’ll also want all eight tower Key Spheres for that final door — the Panthalus quest drops the outer barrier, but the tower path is a separate, parallel requirement.)
