Key takeaways
  • Ancient Bone is a distinct Palworld 1.0 material (internal BeastBone_Ancient) — NOT the same as plain ‘Bone’. It’s an Uncommon material, weight 8 each, that sells for 1,200 Gold and is mined from the large glowing skeleton nodes.
  • It’s found in one place: the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary in the far north-east (around 660, 635). Fast-travel to Deep Sand Dunes or the Furthest Flats Great Eagle Statue and fly north-east — and expect sanctuary patrols.
  • Mine the nodes with any pickaxe or the Plasma Multicutter; a better tool is faster but does NOT drop more. There’s no fixed respawn timer — nodes come back on your world’s resource-respawn setting. A node gives ~30 bones (a variable community estimate, not an official number).
  • Ancient Bone feeds 7 endgame recipes — 30 each except Air Walker EX (60): Dogen Emblem, Silvegis Emblem, Wandering Merchant Charm, Vanguard Charm, Air Walker Mk III, Air Walker EX and Phantom Ring. A full set is 240 bones (~1,920 backpack weight).

If a Palworld 1.0 recipe is asking for Ancient Bone and you’ve been smashing every skeleton Pal hoping for a drop — stop. Ancient Bone isn’t plain Bone, it isn’t a Pal drop, and it comes from exactly one spot on the map. This guide covers where it is, how to mine it efficiently, what actually respawns (and what doesn’t), and everything it’s used for — with a calculator to size up your farm.

What is Ancient Bone?

Ancient Bone is a distinct Uncommon material (internal name BeastBone_Ancient) added in Palworld 1.0 — and the first thing to get straight is that it is not the same as “Bone.” They’re two separate items, and several recipes ask for both, so don’t let them blur together.

  • Weight 8 per unit, stacks to 9,999, and sells for 1,200 Gold — all datamined.
  • Flavour text: “A beast bone weathered over many years in extreme environments. Even after losing its flesh, it still gives off a strong presence.”
  • You get it by mining — it’s not a ground pickup or a Pal drop.

Where to find Ancient Bone

There’s only one location: the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary in the far north-east of the map, east of The Furthest Flats.

Schematic route to Ancient Bone in Palworld 1.0: it is found only in the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary in the north-east; fast-travel to Deep Sand Dunes (~527,528) or the Furthest Flats Great Eagle Statue (~473,686) and fly north-east to the glowing bone nodes around (660,635). Labelled a schematic with approximate coordinates and a warning about sanctuary patrols.

  • Fast-travel to Deep Sand Dunes (~527, 528) or The Furthest Flats Great Eagle Statue (~473, 686) — both just south-west of the sanctuary.
  • Fly or glide north-east to the sanctuary; the mineable nodes sit around (660, 635).
  • Coordinates differ by a few units between sources, so treat that as an approximate node area, not a surveyed pin.
  • It’s a Wildlife Sanctuary, so expect patrolling drones and ships — see our Wildlife Sanctuary guide for getting in and out cleanly.

How to farm Ancient Bone

The method is simple: mine the large glowing skeleton/ribcage nodes. No pickaxe fussing, no Pal required beyond a hauler for the weight.

Flowchart of the Ancient Bone farming loop in Palworld 1.0: fast-travel to a south-west node, fly north-east to the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary, mine the glowing ribcage nodes with a pickaxe or Plasma Multicutter (about 30 bones per node, a community estimate), haul it home (weight 8 per unit is the real limit), wait for respawn on your world setting, then repeat. A side note shows the Ancient Relic Recycler as an alternative passive source.

There’s also a passive route: the Ancient Relic Recycler in the World Tree biome converts Ancient Relics into Ancient Bone — handy once you’re set up there, but the sanctuary run is the main way to get a bulk supply.

Which mining tool is best?

Any pickaxe works, but faster is better — and here’s the honest ranking (no source publishes exact break-times, so this is relative order, not measured seconds):

Qualitative ranking of Palworld 1.0 mining tools for Ancient Bone from slowest to fastest: Stone Pickaxe (Lv 1), Metal Pickaxe (Lv 11), Refined Metal Pickaxe (Lv 34), Pal Metal Pickaxe (Lv 44), and the Plasma Multicutter (endgame, fastest). Labelled relative, not measured, and noting all tools give the same yield.

The key thing to know: a better tool mines faster, but every tool drops the same amount. Higher tiers do not give you more Ancient Bone — so just use the fastest one you’ve unlocked (the Plasma Multicutter if you have it).

How much does it weigh?

This is the real bottleneck. Ancient Bone weighs 8 each, and you’ll be hauling a lot of it:

Line chart of Ancient Bone quantity versus total backpack weight in Palworld 1.0, at 8 weight per unit: 30 bones (one recipe) is 240 weight, Air Walker EX’s 60 is 480 weight, and all seven recipes (240 bones) is 1,920 weight. Notes that stack size is 9999 so carry weight, not stacking, is the constraint.

Because it stacks to 9,999, you’ll never hit a stack cap — your carry weight is the limit. One 30-cost recipe is already 240 weight; stocking all seven recipes (240 bones) is nearly 2,000 weight. Bring a high-weight-limit loadout or a hauling Pal.

How does respawn work?

Here’s the honest answer most guides fudge: there is no fixed respawn timer for Ancient Bone.

Bar chart illustrating that Ancient Bone respawn is governed by the world’s Gatherable Objects Respawn Interval setting rather than a fixed timer: tiers for 0.5x (faster respawn), 1x (default), 2x (slower) and 3x (slowest), labelled illustrative and noting no measured Ancient-Bone respawn value is published.

How fast the nodes come back is set entirely by your world’s Gatherable Objects Respawn Interval — a slider you control. Lower it if you’re farming often. There’s no published in-game-hours or minutes value specific to Ancient Bone, so anyone quoting an exact respawn timer is guessing.

What Ancient Bone is used for

Ancient Bone is a pure endgame accessory material — it feeds exactly 7 recipes:

Notes weight 8, sells 1,200 Gold, and that some recipes also use plain Bone.

A full set of all seven is 240 Ancient Bone. Note that some recipes also call for plain Bone (the Dogen Emblem needs 30 of each) — they’re different materials, so count them separately. Plug your target into our Ancient Bone Farming Calculator and it’ll tell you the bones, nodes and weight.

Frequently asked questions

Where do you get Ancient Bone in Palworld 1.0?

It’s mined from the large glowing skeleton nodes in the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary in the far north-east (around 660, 635). Fast-travel to Deep Sand Dunes or the Furthest Flats Great Eagle Statue and fly north-east. It’s the only location.

Is Ancient Bone the same as Bone?

No. Ancient Bone (internal BeastBone_Ancient) is a separate, higher-tier material from plain Bone. Some recipes need both — don’t substitute one for the other.

What’s the best pickaxe for Ancient Bone?

The Plasma Multicutter is fastest, followed by the Pal Metal, Refined Metal, Metal and Stone pickaxes. But a better tool only mines faster — every tool gives the same amount of Ancient Bone.

How long does Ancient Bone take to respawn?

There’s no fixed timer. Node respawn is controlled by your world’s Gatherable Objects Respawn Interval setting, so lower it if you want faster farming. Any specific “X minutes” figure isn’t official.

How much Ancient Bone do I need?

Each of the 7 recipes costs 30, except Air Walker EX at 60. A full set is 240 Ancient Bone — about 1,920 backpack weight. Use the calculator for your exact target.

The bottom line

Ancient Bone is a one-location, mine-only endgame material: fly to the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary, break the glowing bone nodes with your fastest pickaxe, and haul it home (mind the weight — 8 each). Don’t confuse it with plain Bone, don’t expect a fixed respawn, and don’t believe anyone quoting exact per-node numbers — ~30 is a rough community estimate. Size up your run with the farming calculator.

How we verified this
This covers Palworld 1.0 (launched 10 July 2026); the only patch since, v1.0.1 (15 July), is bug-fixes-only. “Ancient Bone” is a real, distinct item (datamine internal code BeastBone_Ancient — provably separate from plain “Bone” = BeastBone, and from “Ancient Civilization Parts”): a Material/MaterialOre, Uncommon (Rank 1), weight 8, max stack 9999, vendor 1,200 Gold, described as “A beast bone weathered over many years in extreme environments…” — all confirmed on paldb.cc and corroborated by Game8, op.gg and PC Gamer. It is OBTAINED BY MINING the large glowing skeleton/ribcage nodes (pickaxe or Plasma Multicutter), NOT a ground pickup, Pal drop, boss or chest; a secondary passive route is the Ancient Relic Recycler (feed Ancient Relics) in the World Tree biome. LOCATION: only the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary, far north-east (east of The Furthest Flats). Coordinates are approximate and differ by source (gamerant 660,635; nerdschalk 664,636) so we treat it as one approximate node area, anchored to the confirmed fast-travel points Deep Sand Dunes (~527,528) and The Furthest Flats Great Eagle Statue (~473,686); it’s a sanctuary, so there are patrols. Three things are NOT published and we do not fabricate them: (1) per-tool break-speed / node HP — so the tool chart is a qualitative tier ladder (Stone Lv1 < Metal Lv11 < Refined Metal Lv34 < Pal Metal Lv44 < Plasma Multicutter), and higher tiers mine FASTER but do NOT yield more; (2) a fixed respawn timer — respawn is governed only by the world’s player-configurable resource-respawn setting, so the respawn chart shows setting tiers, not a measured number; (3) per-node yield — ~30 is a widely-repeated community/player estimate that guides explicitly hedge as variable, and is NOT a datamined figure (note the “30” in databases is the recipe cost, a different number), so we label it an editable estimate in the chart and calculator. USES: exactly 7 datamined endgame recipes, all 30 Ancient Bone except Air Walker EX (60): Dogen Emblem, Silvegis Emblem, Wandering Merchant Charm, Vanguard Charm, Air Walker Mk III, Air Walker EX, Phantom Ring (paldb, Game8); some also use plain Bone (e.g. Dogen Emblem 30 Ancient Bone + 30 Bone) — a different material we keep separate in the recipe math. Weight 8/unit is datamined, so the quantity-vs-weight chart and the calculator’s weight/sell outputs are exact. Correct as of 16 July 2026; a patch can change any of these.
