Owala Back-to-School Sale: 20% Off FreeSip Bottles & Bags
Update log (2)
- — The sale does have a published deadline, which this article originally said it did not: Owala's own back-to-school page is scheduled to run from 2 August to 8 August 2026, ending at 11:59pm Mountain Time. Prices are now listed here too. And Target is running its own 20% off Owala bottles alongside an autumn collection, so buying direct is no longer the only live discount.
- — The prices are now per size, because they vary by size and the earlier single figure for each bottle was only the smallest one — a FreeSip is $29.99 at 24oz and $34.99 at 32oz. The bag range topped out at $109.99, not $99.99: the Sun-Day Collapsible Tote and the Sun-Day Tote are two different bags. And we have since put bottles in a basket, so the 20%-comes-off-in-the-cart line is now something we watched happen rather than something we inferred.

- It ends Saturday 8 August 2026 at 11:59pm Mountain Time. Owala does not print that on the banner, but its own back-to-school page carries the schedule in its page data: live from 2 August, ending 8 August. As of publication that is five days.
- The discount is broader than the headline: 20% off sitewide covers drinkware, bags, accessories and bundles, not only FreeSip. Bags are now a full Owala category — crossbodies from $39.99, totes up to $109.99, where 20% is worth the most in dollar terms.
- Owala is not the only place. Target is running its own 20% off Owala bottles alongside a new autumn collection that includes the messenger bags, so it is worth comparing before buying direct.
- The 20% comes off in the cart, not the product page. We put three 32oz FreeSips in a basket: $34.99 each, $104.97 for three, $20.97 deducted, $84.00 to pay. The listed price is what you are getting 20% off, so read every price below as the before figure.
Owala’s back-to-school sale runs to Saturday 8 August 2026, ending at 11:59pm Mountain Time. Twenty per cent off, and it covers the bags as well as the bottles.
That deadline is not on the banner. It is in the scheduling data of Owala’s own back-to-school page, which is set to go live on 2 August and expire on the 8th. As of publication that leaves five days.
What exactly is discounted?
Owala’s banner says sitewide, and its shop is organised into five categories:
| Category | What is in it |
|---|---|
| Drinkware | Water bottles and tumblers, including the FreeSip line |
| Coffee & Tea | Leakproof travel mugs |
| Bags | Insulated totes, crossbodies and carry-alls |
| Accessories | Lids, straws and spare parts |
| Bundles | Pre-packaged combinations |
Owala does not publish an exclusions list, so “sitewide” is its word rather than a guarantee — see below.
What do the bottles and bags cost?
These are Owala’s own prices, taken from each product’s page. Every one of them is a before price — see the next section for why. Bottles are priced by size, so the size is here too; a headline “FreeSip is $29.99” is really “the 24oz is”.
| Bottle | Size | Listed |
|---|---|---|
| FreeSip® | 24oz | $29.99 |
| FreeSip® | 32oz | $34.99 |
| FreeSip® | 40oz | $39.99 |
| Sway | 18oz | $26.99 |
| Sway | 30oz | $34.99 |
| Sway | 40oz | $44.99 |
| Sway | 64oz | $54.99 |
| Twist | 18oz | $26.99 |
| Twist | 24oz | $29.99 |
| Kids’ FreeSip® | 16oz | $24.99 |
Bags come in one size each:
| Bag | Listed |
|---|---|
| The Daily Crossbody (1L) | $39.99 |
| The Puffer Mini Insulated Tote | $49.99 |
| The All-Day Crossbody (3.5L) | $69.99 |
| The Puffer Insulated Tote | $79.99 |
| The Sun-Day Tote | $99.99 |
| The Cloud Insulated Tote | $99.99 |
| The Sun-Day Collapsible Tote | $109.99 |
Those last two lines are two different bags with almost the same name, ten dollars apart. The Collapsible is the one that folds flat, and it is the most expensive thing in the range.
Worth noting if you have only thought of Owala as a bottle company: bags are now a full category, and at $39.99 to $109.99 they are where 20% is worth the most in dollar terms — $22 off the Collapsible against $6 off a 24oz FreeSip.
Is the price you see the price you pay?
No. The 20% comes off in the cart.
We checked rather than assumed. Three 32oz FreeSips at the listed $34.99 came to $104.97, the cart deducted $20.97, and the total was $84.00 — 20% per item, rounded down to the cent. So every figure in the tables above is what the discount is calculated from, and a 24oz FreeSip at $29.99 comes to $24.00.
One wrinkle, and it is the reason to trust the cart over anything else on the site: a few variants show the discount on the product page instead, as a “20% Off” badge with the old price struck through. The Sugar High Twist reads $23.99 against $29.99, and the 40oz Sway in Terracotta Sunset reads $35.99 against $44.99. Switch to another size or colour of the same bottle and the badge disappears, leaving the full price on screen — which is where the 32oz FreeSip above sat when we bought it.
Same 20% either way, as far as we can tell. But it means the number on the product page answers a different question depending on which variant you are looking at, so the cart total is the only figure worth comparing against Target’s.
When does the Owala sale end?
Saturday 8 August 2026, 11:59pm Mountain Time.
Owala does not print this on the promotional banner, which is why a lot of coverage says the sale has no published deadline. It does — the page that hosts the promotion carries its own start and end schedule, set to America/Denver, running 2 August to 8 August.
For context on why a deadline matters with this brand: Owala’s Birthday Bash sale in April was also 20% off sitewide, and its own page describes that one as “a one-day-only event”. A week is generous by Owala’s standards, not the start of a long run.
Should you buy from Owala or Target?
Check both. This is the part that changed recently.
Target is running its own Owala discount — 20% off select Owala bottles — alongside a new autumn collection that includes the crossbody messenger bags. That is separate from the Target back-to-school event which ended on 1 August, and which a lot of the older “Owala back-to-school sale” articles were actually describing.
So there are now two live routes rather than one:
- Owala direct — the sitewide 20%, covering the full range including bundles and spare parts, ending 8 August.
- Target — 20% off selected bottles plus the autumn collection, with its own range and its own stock.
Buying direct gets you the whole catalogue at the discount. Target may be better on a specific bottle or colourway, and it carries collection pieces Owala’s own promotion does not necessarily match. Worth thirty seconds of comparison rather than assuming the brand’s own site always wins.
Are there exclusions?
Owala’s page does not say, which is not the same as “none”.
Its April sitewide sale carried one: 20% off everything except the special-edition Birthday Bash collection. Limited and collaboration releases are the usual carve-out from a sitewide discount.
Nothing indicates this sale repeats it, and the discount did apply cleanly to the FreeSips we put in a basket. But that only proves it for FreeSips. If what you want is a limited colourway or a collaboration piece, it is a thirty-second check: put it in the cart and confirm the 20% actually comes off before you pay.
The bottom line
You have until Saturday 8 August, 11:59pm Mountain Time. That is five days from publication, and it is Owala’s own schedule rather than an estimate.
Buy direct for the range — the bags are the part where 20% is worth real money, and they are not always in retailer promotions. But check Target first if you want one specific bottle, because it is discounting Owala at the same time.

| Owala — Back to School | The 20% sitewide offer and the page’s own schedule: America/Denver, live 2 August, ending 8 August 23:59 |
| Owala product pages — FreeSip , Sway , Twist , Kids’ | Every bottle price above, read per size off each product’s own page rather than off a promotional tile |
| Owala — Shop All Bags | The seven bags and their prices, including the two similarly named Sun-Day totes at $99.99 and $109.99 |
| Owala — Bottle Bundle | That the bundle starts at $89.97 — three FreeSips at list price, no bundle discount — which is what disproved this article’s earlier reasoning about a discounted bundle figure |
| Owala | The sitewide banner and the category structure — Drinkware, Coffee & Tea, Bags, Accessories, Bundles |
| Owala — Birthday Bash 2026 | That April’s sitewide 20% was “a one-day-only event”, needed no code, applied the discount in the cart, and excluded the special-edition collection |

| Hip2Save — Target’s Owala autumn collection | That Target is separately discounting Owala now, alongside an autumn collection including the messenger bags |
How we verified this
THE END DATE CAME FROM OWALA’S OWN PAGE DATA, and finding it corrected this article’s original central claim. The first version said Owala had published no end date and that any article giving one was guessing. That was wrong, and it was wrong because of an incomplete search: we checked the homepage, the sale collection and the Birthday Bash page, but never /pages/back-to-school — the one URL a back-to-school promotion would obviously live at. That page’s Builder record, named “Back To School - Landing Page 2026”, carries scheduledTimezone America/Denver, startDate 1785650400000 and endDate 1786255140000, which convert to 2 August 00:00 and 8 August 23:59 Mountain. A negative claim needs the page most likely to disprove it to have been checked first. This one had not been.
PRICES ARE OWALA’S OWN. The earlier version of this article said no price could be read first-party; that was true of the pages we had tried and untrue of the one we had not.
THE DISCOUNT MECHANIC WAS SETTLED IN A BASKET, not by inference. Three 32oz FreeSips came to $104.97 — three times the $34.99 listed — with $20.97 taken off at the cart and $84.00 to pay. That is 20% applied per item and rounded down to the cent, and it establishes that the listed figure is the before price.
AN EARLIER VERSION ARGUED THIS FROM A BUNDLE PRICE AND THE ARGUMENT WAS BAD. It said a promotional tile showing $63.72 must be a discounted figure because $63.72 is exactly 80% of $79.65 — a list price that appears nowhere on Owala’s site. We had back-solved a number from the conclusion we wanted and then cited it as evidence for that conclusion. Owala’s Bottle Bundle page in fact starts at $89.97, which is three FreeSips at $29.99 with no bundle discount at all. When arithmetic is the only thing holding a claim up, the number it produces has to be findable somewhere other than in the arithmetic.
PRICES ARE FROM THE PRODUCT PAGES, not from the promotional tiles. One tile read $23.99 for the FreeSip Twist; the product page shows that figure is the Sugar High colourway carrying its own “20% Off” badge against a $29.99 strike through, not the line’s price. Reading a promo grid gets you whichever variant the merchandiser put in the tile. Each figure below is the price on that product’s own page, with the size it belongs to.
THE TARGET DETAIL IS FROM CONSUMER COVERAGE, not from Target’s own terms. Two separate things are true and were previously conflated here: the Target back-to-school event that TODAY reported as ending 1 August is over, and Target is separately discounting Owala now alongside an autumn collection. We had used the first to claim Owala’s own site was the only live discount, which no longer holds.
EXCLUSIONS ARE STILL UNSTATED. April’s sitewide sale excluded the special edition Birthday Bash collection. Nothing on the current page says whether this one carves anything out, so the article says to check the cart rather than claiming there are none.
