Jason Statham’s Mutiny opens in US cinemas on Friday 21 August 2026, and tickets have been on sale since 5 August. The date is worth pinning down because it moved. Mutiny was originally scheduled for 9 January 2026 and was pushed to late August — so any listing you find still showing a January date is out of date rather than showing a second release.

At 95 minutes it is short by the standards of modern action films, which for this kind of contained thriller is usually a feature rather than a compromise.

Are Mutiny tickets on sale yet?

Yes. Tickets went on sale on 5 August 2026, roughly two weeks ahead of release, and are available through Fandango and directly from the major chains.

You can book through Fandango, which sells for AMC, Regal, Cinemark and independents, or direct with AMC, Cinemark, Regal and Atom Tickets. The film’s official site also has a Get Tickets route.

One thing not to expect: there is no IMAX or premium large-format release announced. Nothing in Lionsgate’s materials or the ticketing listings flags IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 4DX or ScreenX for this film, which is normal for a mid-budget action title released in late August rather than a sign that something is wrong. Standard screens are the release.

How much are Mutiny tickets?

Nobody publishes a price in advance, because cinemas set their own. Fandango and the chains show no figure until you have chosen a specific cinema and showtime, since price varies by site, by format, by day and by time of day.

What is Mutiny about?

Cole Reed witnesses his billionaire employer’s murder, is framed for it, and boards a cargo ship to go after the people responsible — where what starts as revenge turns out to be an international conspiracy.

That is Lionsgate’s own framing, and it is worth noting that it is all anyone has: no reviews have been published, so there is no independent account of how the film actually plays. The setup puts Statham alone in a steel box in the middle of the ocean, which is the same structural trick Richet used in Plane — a confined setting, a limited cast and nowhere for the protagonist to retreat to.

It was shot between September and November 2024 in the UK — including a lockdown of the One Canada Square entrance at Canary Wharf — and in Malta, which has the Mediterranean’s main water tank facilities for marine filming.

Is Mutiny rated R, and why?

Yes — R, reported as being for strong/bloody violence and language. In practice that means under-17s need an accompanying parent or guardian.

Lionsgate has leaned into it, releasing a clip in the run-up that trades on the violence being unusually blunt for a late-summer studio action film. One oddity worth flagging if you go looking: the film’s own website still displayed “this film is not yet rated” as of 15 August 2026, and some listings still showed NR. That is a page nobody updated, not a genuine dispute about the rating.

Where can you watch Mutiny after cinemas?

Starz first, then Prime Video — that order is set by Lionsgate’s output deals rather than by anything specific to this film, and no date has been announced for either.

Lionsgate releases go to Starz in the first pay window, on a deal the two companies renewed on an accelerated timetable as they separated — meaning the gap from cinema to Starz is shorter than it used to be. Amazon then holds an exclusive second window on Prime Video, under a multi-year output deal that begins with Lionsgate’s 2026 theatrical slate, which this film is part of.

What nobody has published is when. Digital purchase and rental usually arrive before either streaming window, but Lionsgate has not announced a date for that either, so treat any specific date you see as a guess.

Is Mutiny worth seeing?

There is no critical verdict yet — Rotten Tomatoes carried zero reviews and zero audience ratings when checked on 15 August 2026. That is an absence of data rather than a bad sign.

What can be said is what the film is and who made it. Richet’s Plane was the best-reviewed Statham vehicle in years and worked on exactly this premise of a confined setting and a competent man; Mutiny reuses that shape at sea. Box Office Pro’s long-range tracking has it opening in the $8m–$12m range domestically, which is a modest but normal figure for an original, mid-budget Statham action film in late August, a corridor of the calendar studios reserve for exactly this.
