Jaguar Type 01 UK: Price, Specs, Release Date & How to Order
Update log (1)
- — Jaguar released the first interior images and details this morning, and confirmed the car will be revealed in New York on 6 October 2026. A camouflaged prototype appears at Pebble Beach Concours on Sunday 16 August. Price, range and UK on-sale timing remain unpublished.

- You cannot order one, and nobody can. Jaguar reveals the Type 01 in New York on 6 October 2026. Its own website says ‘Coming Soon’ and offers a Keep Me Informed registration — there is no configurator, no order book and no deposit.
- The power figures are official; the price and range figures are not. Jaguar has confirmed tri-motor drive producing more than 1,000PS and over 1,300Nm. It has published no price, no range, no battery size and no on-sale date. Any £120,000-£150,000 estimate or 478-mile range you have seen came from somewhere other than Jaguar.
- The interior was shown for the first time today, 12 August 2026. A central spine runs the full length of the cabin creating four individual spaces, with a travertine-inspired palette and a ClearSight digital rear-view display set into the base of the windscreen.
- It is a British car in a literal sense. Jaguar states the Type 01 is designed, developed and built in the heart of the UK, and it is the first production Jaguar on the bespoke Jaguar Electric Architecture. The announcements are datelined Gaydon.
You cannot order a Jaguar Type 01 yet, and nor can anyone else. The car is being revealed in New York on 6 October 2026, and Jaguar’s own website still says “Coming Soon”.
What changed today is the inside. On 12 August 2026 Jaguar published the first images and details of the Type 01’s interior — and confirmed the reveal date at the same time.
So this guide separates two things that most coverage runs together: what Jaguar has actually confirmed, and what has been estimated on its behalf.
Is the Jaguar Type 01 on sale yet?
No. There is no order book, no configurator and no deposit. Jaguar’s landing page reads “Type 01. The four-door GT. Coming Soon.” The single action available is a Keep Me Informed registration form.
That is the honest answer to “how to order”, and it will stay the answer until at least October. The reveal on 6 October 2026 is the next real milestone; an on-sale date has not been announced.
| Stage | Status |
|---|---|
| Name confirmed | 13 May 2026 |
| Interior shown | 12 Aug 2026 |
| Public reveal | 6 Oct 2026 |
| Order books | Not open |
| Price | Not published |
How much will the Jaguar Type 01 cost?
Jaguar has not published a price. Not a starting figure, not a range, not a deposit amount.
You will see a £120,000 to £150,000-plus band quoted in a lot of places. That figure does not come from Jaguar — it appears in press coverage and estimates, and Jaguar’s own releases and website contain no price at all. Treat it as an outside estimate rather than a specification, because that is what it is.
There is a reason to expect the number to be large: Jaguar has positioned Type 01 as a luxury four-door GT with over 1,000PS on a bespoke platform, and its managing director has described the car as “a complete brand reset”. But an expectation is not a price, and we are not going to print one as though it were.
What are the Jaguar Type 01’s specs?
The confirmed specification is short: tri-motor drive, more than 1,000PS, over 1,300Nm of torque. Those figures are Jaguar’s own, from its 13 May 2026 announcement.
| Specification | Jaguar’s figure |
|---|---|
| Drive | Tri-motor |
| Power | Over 1,000PS |
| Torque | Over 1,300Nm |
| Body | Four-door GT |
| Platform | JEA |
| Built in | UK |
The platform matters more than it sounds. Type 01 is the first production Jaguar on the Jaguar Electric Architecture, a bespoke EV platform rather than an adapted one — which is what the company credits for the car’s proportions and packaging.
What Jaguar has not published: range, battery capacity, charging speed, kerb weight, 0-62mph time, trim levels or options. A 478-mile WLTP figure circulates widely; it is not in any Jaguar release we could find. If range is the number that decides your purchase, October is when you will get it.
What does the Type 01 interior look like?
A central spine runs the full length of the cabin, splitting it into four individual spaces. That was the headline of Jaguar’s 12 August release, and it is the first time the production interior has been shown.
The details Jaguar gave:
- The central spine carries a brass-inspired finish repeated along the tops of the doors, bearing the Jaguar leaper.
- A travertine-inspired palette — the tonal scheme takes from the stone and from artisan textiles.
- A low, cossetting driving position, described as confidence-inspiring, with the cabin shrinking around the driver.
- A slim dashboard integrating the new infotainment, with “technology on demand” rather than permanently visible screens.
- A ClearSight digital rear-view display set centrally into the base of the windscreen, at the same height as the door mirrors.
- Concealed compartments and hidden-until-needed technology.
Jaguar’s chief interior designer Thomas Holden framed the layout as a deliberate break from convention: in contrast to the horizontal norm, the spine emphasises the cabin’s longitudinal nature and creates those four spaces.
When is the Jaguar Type 01 release date?
The reveal is 6 October 2026 in New York. The on-sale date has not been announced.
Before that, a camouflaged prototype appears in North America for Monterey Car Week, culminating at Pebble Beach Concours on Sunday 16 August 2026 with a new wrap.
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| 16 Aug 2026 | Pebble Beach prototype |
| 6 Oct 2026 | Full reveal, New York |
| TBC | Order books, deliveries |
A “first half of 2027” on-sale window is widely reported. Like the price and range figures, it is not something Jaguar has stated, so it belongs in the estimate column rather than the diary.
How do you order a Jaguar Type 01 in the UK?
You register interest — that is the only mechanism that exists. Jaguar’s site offers a Keep Me Informed form which asks which market you are in; there is no order page behind it.
Two practical notes for a UK buyer:
This is a British-built car, which is unusual enough to be worth stating plainly. Jaguar says the Type 01 is designed, developed and built in the heart of the UK, and both announcements are datelined Gaydon. That has implications for supply and for how early UK allocation is likely to be, though Jaguar has not commented on either.
Be wary of anyone offering to take a deposit. Nothing is orderable and no pricing exists, so any site quoting you a figure or holding a build slot is not working from published information. We are not linking to brokers for that reason.

Type 01 vs Type 00: what is the difference?
Type 00 is the concept car; Type 01 is the production model. They are frequently confused, including in search.
Jaguar unveiled Type 00 in December 2024 as a design statement. Type 01 is the car that follows it to market, named on 13 May 2026. In Jaguar’s own words, “Type” references its legendary predecessors — the naming goes back to the Le Mans-winning C-type of 1951, through the E-type and the more recent F-TYPE — while “0” stands for zero tailpipe emissions and “1” for the first of a new generation.
Bottom line
The Type 01 is real, it is British-built, it makes more than 1,000PS, and you cannot buy one.
Everything else being quoted — the six-figure price band, the 478-mile range, the 2027 on-sale window — is estimate rather than specification. The date to put in the diary is 6 October 2026, when Jaguar reveals the car in New York and, presumably, starts answering the questions it has left open.

How we verified this
Everything attributed to Jaguar here comes from its own media centre, not from coverage of it. The interior details and the 6 October reveal date are from the company’s 12 August 2026 release, datelined Gaydon. The name, the meaning of “Type 01”, the tri-motor output and the UK design-and-build statement are from its 13 May 2026 release. Both were read in full on media.jaguar.com.
🔴 The two numbers readers most want are the two Jaguar has not published. There is no official price and no official range figure anywhere in Jaguar’s releases or on its website. Widely repeated figures — a £120,000 to £150,000-plus band, and a 478-mile WLTP target — do not appear in any Jaguar communication we could find, so they are described here as outside estimates and are not presented as specifications. The same applies to the “first half of 2027” on-sale timing.
What Jaguar has actually specified is narrow. Tri-motor technology delivering “more than 1,000PS” and “over 1,300Nm of torque”, a luxury four-door GT body, the Jaguar Electric Architecture as a bespoke platform, and UK design, development and manufacture. No battery capacity, no charging speed, no kerb weight, no trim structure, no performance times.
The ordering position was checked on Jaguar’s own site rather than assumed. jaguar.com’s landing page reads “Type 01. The four-door GT. Coming Soon.” The only action offered is a Keep Me Informed registration form, which asks for a market. There is no configurator and no order page. No form was submitted and no personal details were entered.
⚠️ Jaguar’s site served this connection its international edition, so UK-specific journeys are described cautiously. A direct en-gb URL returned a 404 and the site resolved to its international (en-xi) edition; the registration form’s cookie notice rendered in Chinese, indicating the page adapts to the visitor’s location. So this article says what Jaguar’s own pages offer, not what a visitor in Britain will see at every step.
The name is not a typo for Type 00, and the distinction matters. Type 00 is the December 2024 concept car. Type 01 is the production model, named on 13 May 2026. Jaguar’s own explanation: “Type” references its predecessors, “0” is for zero tailpipe emissions, “1” for the first of a new generation.
No dealer, broker or import quote appears here. Nothing is orderable, so there is no price to compare, and this article does not link resale or brokerage sites offering to take a deposit on an unannounced car.
