Hyundai IONIQ Canada 2026: Prices, Specs, Deals & Where to Buy

- Hyundai Canada sells three IONIQ models: the 2026 IONIQ 5 from $58,544, the 2026 IONIQ 9 from $63,144 and the 2027 IONIQ 5 N from $81,244. Each of those is the all-in figure; the smaller number Hyundai prints beside it is around $3,000 lower and excludes freight, PDI and dealer fees.
- The federal rebate did not disappear, it changed name. iZEV closed on 31 March 2025; the Electric Vehicle Affordability Program has been running since 16 February 2026 and still had $2.05 billion of its $2.275 billion left on 1 August 2026.
- The catch is the cap. EVAP requires a final transaction value of $50,000 or less unless the car is made in Canada, and every IONIQ price Hyundai publishes is above that. No Hyundai appears anywhere on Transport Canada’s 25-row eligible vehicle list.
- Hyundai is discounting instead. In Ontario the IONIQ 5 shows a Your Price of $53,723 including a $5,000 Hyundai Bonus, while the IONIQ 9 carries no bonus at all.
Hyundai sells three IONIQ models in Canada, and for each one it publishes two prices about three thousand dollars apart. Behind that sits a bigger question: the federal EV rebate is back after a year away, and on the numbers Hyundai advertises, no IONIQ gets near it.
How much does a Hyundai IONIQ cost in Canada in 2026?
From $58,544 for the IONIQ 5, which is Hyundai’s all-in figure before sales tax.
| Model | All-in | Car only | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| IONIQ 5 (2026) | $58,544 | $55,499 | $3,045 |
| IONIQ 9 (2026) | $63,144 | $59,999 | $3,145 |
| IONIQ 5 N (2027) | $81,244 | $78,199 | $3,045 |
The larger number is the one Hyundai leads with. Its own legal note says it includes delivery and destination charges — freight and pre-delivery inspection — plus fees, levies and the dealer administration fee, while excluding HST, PST, GST and QST. The smaller number is the same car before those charges.
The gap is remarkably consistent: $3,045 on both the IONIQ 5 and the IONIQ 5 N, and $3,145 on the IONIQ 9. Whichever model you look at, roughly three thousand dollars of the price is not the car.
Which IONIQ models are sold in Canada?
Three: the IONIQ 5, the IONIQ 9 and the IONIQ 5 N. Note that the 5 and the 9 are 2026 model years while the N is already a 2027.
| Model | Range | Le/100 | Trims |
|---|---|---|---|
| IONIQ 5 | 504 km | 1.9 | 3 |
| IONIQ 9 | 539 km | 2.6 | 5 |
| IONIQ 5 N | — | 3.0 | 1 |
Drivetrains are not in the table: the 5 and the 9 are rear-drive as standard, the N is all-wheel drive. The IONIQ 5 is the volume car — a rear-drive electric SUV with up to 504km of range and three trims, topping out with the Preferred Long Range AWD with Ultimate package. The IONIQ 9 is the three-row SUV, six or seven seats, with the longest range of the three at 539km and five trims from Essential RWD upwards.
The IONIQ 5 N is a different proposition: one trim, all-wheel drive as standard, 601 horsepower and 641 with N Grin Boost. Hyundai publishes no range figure for it on the Canadian page.
Is the Hyundai IONIQ 6 available in Canada?
It does not appear anywhere on Hyundai Canada’s site. Its showroom page returns a genuine error while the pages for the 5, the 5 N and the 9 all load, the electrification hub names only those three, and the offers page lets you pick between KONA Electric, IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9.
Three separate parts of Hyundai’s own website agree, which is about as strong as a negative gets without a statement from the company. If you are shopping for an IONIQ 6 in Canada, that is the answer to start from.
Is there still a federal EV rebate in Canada?
Yes, but not the one most people remember. The old iZEV programme is finished — Transport Canada’s page for it now reads “Closed. You can no longer apply” — and it ended on 31 March 2025.
Its replacement, the Electric Vehicle Affordability Program, has been running since 16 February 2026 and is scheduled to continue to 31 March 2031 or until the money runs out. It has not run out: of $2.275 billion allocated, $2.05 billion was still available on 1 August 2026.
Battery-electric cars are eligible for up to $5,000 and plug-in hybrids up to $2,500, with the amount scaled to how you take the car.
| How you take it | BEV | PHEV |
|---|---|---|
| Buy, or lease 48 months+ | $5,000 | $2,500 |
| 36-month lease | $3,750 | $1,875 |
| 24-month lease | $2,500 | $1,250 |
| 12-month lease | $1,250 | $625 |
Those are the 2026 figures. Transport Canada states the amounts decline over the programme’s five years, so a car bought in 2029 will not attract what one bought this year does.
Do any IONIQ models qualify for the $5,000 rebate?
Not on the prices Hyundai publishes. The eligibility rule is specific, and it is worth reading exactly: a vehicle must “have a final transaction value of $50,000 or less, unless it’s made in Canada, then there’s no cap”.
Every IONIQ price on Hyundai’s site is above $50,000. So is the discounted Ontario offer at $53,723. The gap is not marginal on any of them.
Transport Canada also publishes a list of eligible vehicles, and it is short. Twenty-five entries covering five models from four makes: the Chevrolet Bolt and Equinox EV, the Chrysler Pacifica, the Dodge Charger and the Fiat 500e. Hyundai does not appear on it, and neither does any IONIQ.
Two caveats belong with that. The cap is waived for cars made in Canada, and the list is described as covering vehicles with an MSRP of $50,000 or less — so it is a list of affordable EVs rather than a complete ruling. Whether a specific car qualifies is Transport Canada’s call.
What Hyundai deals are available on the IONIQ?
A $5,000 Hyundai Bonus on the IONIQ 5, and nothing on the IONIQ 9. These are Ontario figures; the offers page asks you to choose a province and the terms change with it.
| Model | Price | Bonus | Lease |
|---|---|---|---|
| IONIQ 5 Preferred LR | $53,723 | $5,000 | $160/wk @5.99% |
| IONIQ 9 Essential RWD | $63,323 | none | $175/wk @4.29% |
Both leases run 60 months with $0 down. Both also carry a further 1% rate reduction for qualifying customers, which Hyundai does not define on the offers page.
Worth noticing what has happened here. The manufacturer is putting $5,000 on the bonnet of the one IONIQ that would otherwise be closest to the rebate threshold — and the discount still does not bring it under $50,000. The IONIQ 9, further from the cap, gets a lower finance rate instead of a cash bonus.
Do not read the Your Price figure as the starting price minus the bonus. $58,544 less $5,000 is $53,544, and Hyundai’s Your Price is $53,723 — the two pages are not built from the same components, and neither includes sales tax.
Where do you buy a Hyundai IONIQ in Canada?
Through hyundaicanada.com and a Hyundai dealer, with three tools on the offers page: Search New Inventory, Get Instant quote and Build and price.
The first thing the site asks for is your province, and that is not a formality. Offers, rates and bonuses are set provincially, and the sales tax added at the end differs by province too — none of the prices above include HST, PST, GST or QST.
If the rebate matters to your budget, check Transport Canada’s vehicle list before you check Hyundai’s, because that is the document that decides it.
What is the cheapest way into an IONIQ right now?
The IONIQ 5 with the Ontario bonus, at a Your Price of $53,723 before tax. There is no federal money on top of it.
| Route | Before tax | Rebate |
|---|---|---|
| IONIQ 5, Ontario offer | $53,723 | None — above cap |
| IONIQ 5, showroom | $58,544 | None — above cap |
| IONIQ 9, Ontario offer | $63,323 | None — above cap |
| A car on the eligible list | Under $50,000 | Up to $5,000 |
That last row is the honest comparison. A buyer choosing an IONIQ in Canada in 2026 is choosing a car that sits outside the affordability programme, and Hyundai’s own bonus is the discount that exists in its place.

How we verified this
🔴 Hyundai publishes two prices for each car on the same line, and the difference is about $3,000. Its legal note explains why: the larger figure “includes delivery and destination charges (charge includes freight, pre-delivery inspection), fees, levies, dealer administration fee and all applicable charges (excluding HST/PST/GST/QST)”. Neither figure includes sales tax. Both are printed here with their own labels because quoting only one of them misstates the price in opposite directions.
🔴 A third price exists on Hyundai’s offers page and it does not reconcile with the other two. The Ontario offer shows a Your Price of $53,723 for the IONIQ 5 including a $5,000 Hyundai Bonus, while the showroom starting price is $58,544. Subtracting five thousand from the showroom figure gives $53,544, not $53,723, so the bonus is not a straight deduction from the number on the model page. No arithmetic between the two is performed in this article; both are reported as Hyundai labels them.
✅ The rebate position was checked at Transport Canada, not inferred from coverage. The iZEV page carries the status line “Closed. You can no longer apply” and gives 31 March 2025 as the closing date. The successor programme’s own page gives the 16 February 2026 start, the 31 March 2031 end, the $2.275 billion budget and the $2.05 billion remaining as of 1 August 2026, and was last modified on 13 August 2026.
🔴 The $50,000 cap is quoted verbatim because its exception matters. The eligibility criteria read: “have a final transaction value of $50,000 or less, unless it’s made in Canada, then there’s no cap”. Every IONIQ price Hyundai publishes sits above $50,000, including the discounted Ontario figure. Whether any particular car qualifies is Transport Canada’s determination and not something this page rules on.
✅ The absence of Hyundai from the eligible list is a counted absence, not an assumed one. Transport Canada’s vehicle list table rendered in full: 25 rows covering five models from four makes — Chevrolet Bolt and Equinox EV, Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge Charger and Fiat 500e. Hyundai appears zero times and IONIQ zero times. The page describes the list as covering vehicles with an MSRP of $50,000 or less.
⚠️ The IONIQ 6 conclusion rests on three observations about Hyundai’s website, and is worded that way. Its showroom URL returns a genuine 404 while the other three return 200 and an invented control slug also 404s; the EV hub names only the 5, the 5 N and the 9; and the offers page vehicle selector lists KONA Electric, IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9. That is strong, but it is not a statement from Hyundai.
⚠️ Offers were read with Ontario selected. The page has a province picker and its legal text is headed ONTARIO. Figures differ elsewhere in the country. No quote was requested, no dealer contacted and no transaction price tested. All figures exclude sales tax, and this site carries no affiliate links.
