Howard Stern's Jimmy Kimmel Live Appearance: Every Highlight and How to Watch

Howard Stern and Jimmy Kimmel spent back-to-back nights on each other’s shows in late September 2026, trading a radio interview for a television one. Jimmy Kimmel sat down with Howard Stern on SiriusXM on Monday, September 28, and Stern returned the favor on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! the next night — his first late-night television appearance in nearly seven years. Here’s what happened on both legs of the swap, and exactly how to catch each one.

What happened between Howard Stern and Jimmy Kimmel in late September 2026?

Howard Stern and Jimmy Kimmel appeared as guests on each other’s shows on consecutive nights, Monday, September 28 and Tuesday, September 29, 2026. Kimmel went on The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM first, then Stern showed up on Jimmy Kimmel Live! the following night, which was airing a week of special episodes from the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Howard Gilman Opera House. The two hosts have been friends for years — Stern and his wife, Beth, spent part of the summer with Kimmel and his wife, Molly, at Kimmel’s fishing lodge in Idaho — and the exchange played like two old friends ribbing each other in front of very different audiences.

What did Jimmy Kimmel say on The Howard Stern Show?

Kimmel’s appearance on Stern’s SiriusXM show on Monday, September 28, leaned mostly into friendship and personal territory. The two talked through their history together, and at one point Stern pressed Kimmel to “come clean” about whether his long-running friendship with fellow late-night host Jimmy Fallon is genuine or more of a public performance. Kimmel pushed back, maintaining the friendship is real.

What did Howard Stern say on Jimmy Kimmel Live?

On Tuesday, September 29, Stern sat across from Kimmel on ABC for a wide-ranging conversation that mixed family updates with career news. He talked about his 99-year-old mother, who he said watches nothing but Judge Judy, and marked his 18th wedding anniversary with Beth. The two reminisced about past vacations together, including that Idaho trip. In a running joke through the segment, Stern insisted Kimmel is “more messed up” than he is — a bit that stayed light throughout. Stern also weighed in on Guillermo Rodriguez, Kimmel’s longtime Jimmy Kimmel Live! sidekick, competing on the current season of Dancing with the Stars.

On the career side, Stern confirmed his SiriusXM show has scaled back to one live broadcast a week, airing Mondays, with additional episodes now taped Thursdays and streaming on HBO Max — a distribution change he framed on-air as part of easing his schedule after decades of daily radio.

Did Howard Stern say anything about Jimmy Kimmel’s future at ABC?

Yes — Stern used part of the appearance to publicly vouch for Kimmel with ABC, though the network has made no formal announcement about the show’s future. Praising Kimmel’s loyalty to the network, including his reliable presence at upfronts and company events, Stern told the audience, “There is no man more loyal to this company than this guy,” and added a pointed warning: “If something goes wrong, oh, is ABC going to have hell to pay.” That’s Stern’s own opinion and advocacy for his friend, not a preview of what ABC will actually decide. Kimmel’s contract is reported to run through the 2026–27 season, and earlier in September 2026 ABC had already pushed back on separate reports that the show would end in 2027, calling those claims “purely speculative.” As of this writing, no renewal decision beyond the current season has been confirmed.

How can you watch or listen to both appearances?

Each leg of the swap lives on a different platform, so catching both means checking two different places. Kimmel’s stop on Stern’s show aired live on SiriusXM’s Howard 100 channel (channel 100) and in the SiriusXM app on Monday, September 28, with on-demand replay available to subscribers afterward. Stern’s stop on Jimmy Kimmel Live! aired on ABC on Tuesday, September 29, with the full episode available the next day on Hulu and highlight clips posted to the show’s official YouTube channel.

That Tuesday Jimmy Kimmel Live! taping also featured Bruce Springsteen and Tom Morello as the night’s musical guests, part of the show’s larger week of Brooklyn episodes that brought in a run of high-profile names.

The bottom line

Stern and Kimmel turned two separate bookings into one connected story — a friendly radio sit-down followed by Stern’s first network late-night appearance since 2019, capped off with him publicly going to bat for his friend on live TV.
