Godzilla Minus Zero: Every Official Trailer, the Confirmed Cast and Where to Watch It

The official Godzilla Minus Zero trailer is the 84-second “Official 1.43:1 Trailer | Filmed For IMAX” on Toho’s English YouTube channel, GODZILLA OFFICIAL by TOHO, which premiered on Tuesday 8 September 2026 at 9:55 am ET. The film world-premieres at the New York Film Festival on Saturday 26 September and opens in US theaters, rated R, on Friday 6 November; tickets were not on sale as of 23 September. Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe lead the returning cast, and despite the headlines, King Ghidorah is not confirmed.

Where can you watch the Godzilla Minus Zero trailer?

On YouTube, on GODZILLA OFFICIAL by TOHO (@GodzillaToho), Toho’s English Godzilla channel. The main trailer, “GODZILLA MINUS ZERO | Official 1.43:1 Trailer | Filmed For IMAX”, premiered there on 8 September 2026 at 6:55 am PT / 9:55 am ET. It runs 84 seconds, its video ID is kw0YhiqOPFg, and it is the link GKIDS, the film’s North American distributor, uses in its own press release.

Copies on IGN, KinoCheck and Rotten Tomatoes are re-uploads. Toho’s English videos so far:

The First Look Teaser went up the day Takashi Yamazaki showed footage at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Earlier, Toho revealed the title at Godzilla Fest 2025 in Tokyo on 3 November 2025, Japan time, with a “New Godzilla Film – Title Reveal” video posted at 7:15 pm PT / 10:15 pm ET on Sunday 2 November.

Where is the Japanese trailer?

On 東宝MOVIEチャンネル, Toho’s Japanese movie channel. Its trailer, 『ゴジラ-0.0』予告, runs 83 seconds and premiered at the same moment as the English one: 10:55 pm Japan time on 8 September, which is 9:55 am ET.

The Japanese channel also carries a behind-the-scenes video and a second 30-second spot:

The Japanese title, ゴジラ-0.0, is read Gojira Mainasu Zero.

Why is the trailer labeled 1.43:1 and Filmed For IMAX?

Because Godzilla Minus Zero was shot for IMAX, and 1.43:1 is IMAX’s tallest, nearly square frame. GKIDS bills it as the first Japanese production ever to be Filmed For IMAX, shot entirely in Japan, and the trailer is presented in that full-height shape. On a widescreen TV or monitor, the black bars at the sides are part of the format, not a fault.

Toho says IMAX screenings in Japan will show both of IMAX’s expanded aspect ratios, 1.90:1 and 1.43:1. Only a minority of IMAX auditoriums, those with the largest full-height screens, can show 1.43:1 in full; most digital IMAX screens top out at 1.90:1.

For US audiences, that part is unconfirmed. Neither GKIDS nor IMAX has said which US IMAX locations will play the film or in which frame, and IMAX’s US page would not load for us.

Who is returning from Godzilla Minus One?

Nine actors from Godzilla Minus One are confirmed by Toho and GKIDS, led by Ryunosuke Kamiki as Koichi Shikishima and Minami Hamabe as Noriko Shikishima. Takashi Yamazaki again writes, directs and leads the visual effects, made by Shirogumi, the studio behind Minus One’s Oscar-winning effects.

One name needs correcting. GKIDS’s English release calls Itagaki’s actor “Motosuke Iida”. Toho lists him as 飯田基祐, read Kisuke Iida, the spelling his own blog, his agency and Toho International use. GKIDS also writes Mizuhashi as “Misuhashi”.

Who is new in the Godzilla Minus Zero cast?

Six actors are new: Min Tanaka, announced on 9 July 2026, and Masami Nagasawa, Jun Kunimura, Ko Maehara, Eita Okuno and Kai Inowaki, announced on 8 September.

Toho lists those two actors and two roles in the same order without pairing them, so the last two rows are inferred.

The story is set in 1949, two years after Minus One, and follows the Shikishima family. The official synopsis closes: “There is no third time. Everything ends here.”

Is Tachibana in Godzilla Minus Zero?

Not announced. Toho and GKIDS have not named Munetaka Aoki, who played the mechanic Tachibana in Minus One. That means unannounced, not confirmed absent; casting has come in three waves so far.

The same goes for Akiko, the child Koichi and Noriko are raising: Yamazaki has spoken of her returning, but no actor has been named. Wikipedia lists Sae Nagatani, who played her in Minus One; no official source confirms it.

Is King Ghidorah in Godzilla Minus Zero?

Not confirmed. No Toho news post, GKIDS press release, Toho International post or trailer description names any monster besides Godzilla. The “King Ghidorah confirmed” headlines rest on what viewers heard and saw in the 8 September trailer, not on anything Toho, GKIDS or Yamazaki has said.

The evidence is a roar that is not Godzilla’s. The Japanese outlet Cinema Today places it at about 1:09 in the version it embeds, just before Min Tanaka’s Professor Murakami says it is not Godzilla, and credits the Ghidorah reading to YouTube commenters, calling him only the leading suspect. Fans also cite gold lightning, and the fan site godzilla-movies.com points to a glimpse of yellow scales. GKIDS describes the new poster’s gold lightning striking from above without naming a monster.

Toho’s New Monster Election, a fan vote running 16 September to 25 October, is unrelated: it picks one of eight original Shirogumi designs for a Godzilla Fest film from 2027 onward.

When and where can you watch Godzilla Minus Zero?

In theaters only: first at its world premiere at the New York Film Festival on Saturday 26 September 2026, then wide in US theaters from Friday 6 November 2026 through GKIDS, the distributor Toho bought in 2024. No streaming date has been announced.

Japan gets it on 3 November, Godzilla Day. GKIDS and Toho call this the first near-simultaneous Japan and North America release in the history of Japan-made Godzilla films.

Yamazaki is due to attend the premiere, part of the 64th New York Film Festival, with cast and crew. Film at Lincoln Center’s site would not load for us, so we cannot say whether tickets remain. The Comic Con panel brings producer Kazuaki Kishida, VFX artist Tatsuji Nojima and two members of the sound team, with new updates promised. In Canada, Cineplex Pictures supports the rollout.

Is Godzilla Minus Zero rated R?

Yes. The MPA rated it R for some violent content/bloody images, in ratings Bulletin No. 2955 dated 23 September 2026, with GKIDS as distributor. Godzilla Minus One was PG-13.

No other Godzilla title in the MPA’s database is rated R, so this is the first Godzilla film the MPA has rated R. Many Japanese Godzilla films were never submitted to the MPA, so “the first R-rated Godzilla ever” overstates it. Under an R, viewers under 17 need a parent or adult guardian with them.

There is no official US runtime yet; a Japanese film database lists 134 minutes.

Can you buy Godzilla Minus Zero tickets yet?

Not as of 23 September 2026. Fandango shows a Notify Me button instead of showtimes, the AutoNation IMAX theater at Fort Lauderdale’s Museum of Discovery and Science says tickets are coming soon, and neither GKIDS nor Toho has announced an on-sale date.

GKIDS has also not said whether US screenings will be subtitled, dubbed or both. This page carries no resale ticket prices and no box-office forecast.

Where can you stream Godzilla Minus One?

On Netflix in the US. Toho announced that Godzilla Minus One would stream on Netflix in North America from 1 June 2024, subtitled and dubbed, and JustWatch’s US listing on 23 September 2026 still shows Netflix as its only subscription service, with rental or purchase on Amazon, Apple and Fandango at Home.

We checked from outside the US and could not open Netflix’s own US page for the film, so confirm it in your app.

What should you do now?

• Watch the trailer on GODZILLA OFFICIAL by TOHO, or look for video ID kw0YhiqOPFg. Anything else is a copy.
• Catch up on Netflix before 6 November; Minus Zero is set two years after Minus One.
• Set a ticket alert with Fandango’s Notify Me or your local chain’s app. If you want the 1.43:1 frame, wait for a US IMAX location list before booking.
• Plan around the R if you were bringing children: under-17s need an adult with them.
• Treat Ghidorah as a rumor until Toho or GKIDS names a second monster. The next official chance for news is the Comic Con panel on 10 October.
