Avengers: Doomsday opens on Friday 18 December 2026, and as of 14 August 2026 the general sale is open. Premium-format tickets went on sale on 20 July; standard seats followed on 14 August through Fandango. IMAX is still not an option in the United States for the opening run.

When does Avengers: Doomsday come out?

Friday 18 December 2026, in cinemas worldwide, with Thursday previews expected on 17 December at many U.S. sites. International dates and preview policies vary by market.

The reported runtime is 165 minutes — two hours and 45 minutes — though that figure was published as provisional and studios routinely adjust it before release. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, follows on 17 December 2027.

Are Avengers: Doomsday tickets on sale yet?

Yes, in every format except IMAX. Premium screens opened on 20 July 2026 and the general sale followed on 14 August.

The distinction that still matters is geographic rather than format-based. “On general sale” means the studio has released the inventory, not that every cinema near you has loaded its December calendar; Fandango’s film page shows a Notify me prompt for areas that have not opened yet, and the film is still listed as NR because it has not been rated.

Sales opened at 6:00 a.m. PT / 9:00 a.m. ET on 20 July, covering select showtimes across the film’s first two weeks, from 17 to 30 December. Purchases made through Fandango have been entering buyers into a draw for a trip to the Los Angeles world premiere; check the promotion’s own terms, which are set by the retailer rather than by us.

What the demand looked like. First-day advance sales reached $16.5 million across roughly 1,000 domestic theatres. For scale, Deadpool & Wolverine took about $8 million on its first day of sales — and it had all formats and its full theatre count available. Doomsday doubled that on premium screens alone.

Should you book now or wait?

Book now if you want a premium screen on opening weekend; there is less urgency on standard seats. Premium auditoriums are the ones that sell out first, and they had a three-week head start.

Standard seats are now buyable, but four months of calendar remain and most cinemas have barely opened theirs. Two practical notes. No ticket prices are published anywhere in advance — Fandango shows none until you pick a cinema and showtime, because the price is set by the individual theatre and varies by format, day and time. And if your area shows nothing, that is a rollout gap rather than a sell-out: set the notification instead of refreshing. When you do check out, confirm three things on the final page: the cinema, the auditorium format, and the local date.

Who is in the Avengers: Doomsday cast?

Disney’s movie page lists 30 actors, and Marvel brought most of them onto the Hall H stage at San Diego Comic-Con in late July. The tables below group them by the franchise each performer comes from — Disney has not officially named which of its “three distinct universes” is which.

The last column is our reading of what each brings to a universe collision, drawn from the trailers, their previous films and their established abilities. Marvel has confirmed almost no plot, so treat that column as informed inference rather than a story announcement. Actor names link to their Instagram where a reliable account could be identified.

What is Infinity Vision?

A Disney certification for premium large-format auditoriums that already exist — not a new projection technology, and not another name for IMAX.

Disney launched the programme in April 2026, and its purpose is consumer-facing: to tell you which of a multiplex’s screens is genuinely one of the big ones. In Disney’s own words, a certified auditorium offers “the largest screens for maximum scale”, “laser projection for superior brightness and clarity” and “premium audio formats for fully immersive sound”.

Those three phrases are the extent of what Disney has published. The specific thresholds have been reported rather than announced — a screen of at least 50 feet, 4K laser projection, and immersive audio at 7.1 channels or better, with Dolby Atmos among the accepted formats. We separate the two because one is the studio’s language and the other is the trade’s reading of it.

Two things follow from the fact that it certifies existing rooms rather than building new ones.

The badge is a floor, not a ranking. Every certified auditorium clears the same bar, but they are not equivalent above it: screen dimensions, seat geometry and speaker layouts still differ substantially between a converted XD room and a purpose-built flagship. Certification tells you a room passed; it does not tell you it is the best room in that building, let alone in your city.

It is per-auditorium, not per-cinema. A twelve-screen multiplex may have exactly one certified room. Booking “that cinema” is not the same as booking the certified screen inside it, which is why the format label beside the individual showtime is the only thing that actually matters at checkout.

Where can you book Infinity Vision in the United States?

Disney runs an official finder, and it is the only list worth using — because the certified rooms are scattered and any snapshot of them goes stale quickly.

Use the official Infinity Vision site , which carries Disney Enterprises’ copyright and has showtimes, a Find a Theater search and an FAQ. Retailers including Fandango also expose an Infinity Vision format filter on the film’s page, which is the faster route if you already know your cinema.

Expect coverage to be thin. Seventy-five certified auditoriums across the United States is not many: reporting on Connecticut, for example, found five certified theatres in the entire state. In much of the country the nearest certified screen will be a drive rather than a choice between several, and on opening weekend those are the seats that go first.

Is Avengers: Doomsday worth booking on a premium screen?

On the evidence available, the premium screen is the only meaningful choice you have — so the question is really which one.

Marvel has shown two rounds of footage, the second at San Diego Comic-Con in late July, and the film is built around a large-scale collision of the Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men casts. That is material that benefits from a large screen and a strong sound system, and with IMAX unavailable for the opening weeks, a certified Infinity Vision room or one of the Regal premium formats is what remains.

What we would not do is treat the presale figures as a verdict on the film. Strong advance sales measure anticipation, which is a different thing from quality, and Marvel’s recent record contains both outcomes at high anticipation levels.
