There is a real next-generation Tucson, and Hyundai has said almost nothing about it. Almost everything you will read about its American price and launch date was written by someone filling that silence.
Has Hyundai confirmed a 2027 Tucson?
It has confirmed a next-generation Tucson launching in the fourth quarter of 2026 — one sentence, from executives, on the record. That came on Hyundai Motor’s second-quarter earnings call on 23 July 2026, where Michael Yoon of the investor relations group listed “Tucson Hybrid in the fourth quarter” among the company’s planned launches.
Jaeyong Koo, who heads the IR division, added the commercial shape of it: the Tucson is scheduled for a fourth-quarter launch, the effect on second-half volumes will be limited because it arrives so late in the year, and the revenue lands in 2027.
One thing worth flagging. A good deal of the coverage reports this as a South Korean launch. In the transcript, the Tucson answer sits inside a question about Europe. The call settles the timing; it does not settle the market, so this page does not claim one.
When does the 2027 Hyundai Tucson come out in the US?
Hyundai has not said, and nobody else knows either. There is no announced American on-sale date. What exists is a fourth-quarter launch in one region and the ordinary lag between a global reveal and US dealer stock, which for Hyundai’s volume models has typically run several months.
That is why you will see the car called a 2027 in American coverage and a 2026 model elsewhere: the model-year label is a US market convention applied to a car that Hyundai has not yet placed in the US market at all.

Read the estimates against that table and they are simply the 2026 numbers nudged upward — $32,000 sits between today’s SEL and SEL Plus, $35,000 just above the SEL Premium. That is a reasonable guess about how car pricing usually moves. It is not information, and it is not what Hyundai has told anyone.
What does the 2027 Tucson look like?
Boxier, flatter and closer to the Santa Fe — but every word of that comes from photographers, not from Hyundai. Prototypes have been shot testing in Europe, Korea and the US through 2026, and the consistent observations across those reports are:
- A more upright front end with a flat hood and a larger grille
- Cleaner, tauter body sides, losing the current car’s parametric creases
- A taller glasshouse and squarer rear

What is new in the 2027 Tucson hybrid?
The hybrid moves to Hyundai’s TMED-II system, and the two published power figures disagree by fourteen horsepower. One outlet reports 245 hp and roughly 280 lb-ft from an upgraded 1.6-litre turbo four; another puts the combined output at about 231 hp. Neither figure is a Hyundai release, so both are here.
The plug-in is reported to be moving to a new evolution of the same system, with electric-only range quoted as high as 62 miles. Treat that as the most speculative number on this page: it is a large jump from the current car and no source for it is named.
The one directional claim that shows up everywhere, and which fits Hyundai’s stated strategy, is that the next Tucson leans harder on electrified powertrains. What that means for which engines reach the US is exactly the kind of detail that gets decided late and announced separately.
Should you wait for the 2027 or buy the 2026?
If you need a car this year, the waiting argument is weak, because you would be waiting for something with no date and no price. A fourth-quarter launch in another region, plus the usual gap to US showrooms, does not put this car in front of an American buyer soon.
The case for waiting is real but narrow: if you want the newer platform and the bigger screen and you are not in a hurry, the redesign is genuinely coming and it looks substantial rather than cosmetic.

What should you watch for next?
A Hyundai press release with a US price sheet in it — nothing before that is a price. The signals worth tracking, in order of how much they would actually tell you:

- An EPA fuel-economy listing, which usually appears before pricing and confirms which powertrains are coming to the US.
- Dealer order guides, which leak earlier and are more reliable than preview articles.
